Watford v Leicester – Vicarage Road at 17:30 live on Sky Sports 1
With the Premier League approaching the final 10 games of the season, surprise package Leicester City are still top the table and are 2.75 favourites to win the title.
This weekend they travel to Vicarage road to face Watford who have also exceeded peoples expectations after being promoted last season.
The Hornets currently sit in 12th position on 37 points but it was their form in the first half of the season that impressed, however since Christmas, it’s not been good for Watford.
Quique Snachez Flores’ side have just 2 wins in their last 11 matches, against struggling Newcastle and Crystal Palace, the worst team in the league on current form. All the talk about Troy Deeney and Odion Ighalo has stopped as the goals have dried up, with Watford failing to find the back of the net in 6 of their last 8 league games.
Defensively though, Watford rank in the top 6 sides, keeping 10 clean sheets in 28 league matches and concede an average of 1.04 goals per game. And, despite their recent poor form, they have conceded just 5 goals in their last 7.
Facing one of the best attacks league on Saturday though is going to be a tough test for the Hornets and their record against teams from the top 6 isn’t good, keeping just one clean sheet in 9 games, winning once, losing 8 times.
The league leaders are the most consistent scoring team in the BPL, only failing to score 3 times in 28 outings this term.
They have only one shut out in 14 road matches, when losing 1-0 to Liverpool and from the other 13 their record reads W8 D4 L1.
They have struggled in their last 2 outings, nicking a 1-0 when hosting Norwich, thanks to a late Ulloa strike and being held 2-2 by West Brom on Tuesday. Watford will look at those matches and look to adopt similar tactics as the Canaries and Baggies, with a defensive set up hitting the Foxes on the counter attack.
The hosts are more than capable of frustrating the leagues best teams and should make a game of this but I only see one winner and Leicester have been under-estimated again.
I expect Leicester to break the Hornets defence and thwart the misfiring Watford stikers. I’m recommending Leicester -0.5 at 2.53 on the Asian Handicap betting market, taking a step closer to their first BPL title.
