Tottenham v Chelsea – 8th January Tuesday

Tottenham v Chelsea – Wembley Stadium at 20:00 GMT

Two Premier League giants are going to clash on Tuesday for the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup. Chelsea will be travelling to the Wembley Stadium to take on Tottenham Hotspur for the first leg match of the North London Derby. The Spurs are very much included in the race for the Premier League title this season, closely hovering just below Manchester City and Liverpool at the 3rd spot in the table. The last time these two sides encountered each other was in the Carabao Cup which was also at Wembley, though this fixture was during the 2015 finals and saw a victory for Chelsea.

Tottenham made their way into the 4th round of the FA Cup when they demolished Tranmere in a 7-0 thrashing on Friday. Aside from their surprising defeat against the Wolverhampton Wanderers, they managed to win all 4 of their recent 5 competitive fixtures. They were in a 6-match winning streak at home until the Wolves came visiting just before 2018 ended.

On the other hand, Chelsea has fallen behind in the title race after suffering from some recent defeats. Follow their defeat to Leicester, the Blues returned to their winning ways when they won against Crystal Palace and Watford. However, the recent draw against Southampton raised some concerns regarding the team’s attacking ways. Moreover, it’s also important to note that the Blues are great in their away form and are currently on a 3-game winning streak in their previous away fixtures.

MATCH PREDICTION

Tottenham v Chelsea: 2-1

London derby fixtures are always an exciting contest. With both teams desperate to bag a victory and Tuesday’s match being a semi-final, a real thriller will surely be expected at Wembley. Spurs and Chelsea will both come into this match quite confident since they are on good form in the Premier League in 3rd and 4th spots respectively. Both sides are equally likely to win given their standings and their form in the Premier League table this season. However, Tottenham seems to be a little more favoured since they won their last two meetings against Chelsea. To top things off, Tottenham will have the home advantage.
