Tottenham v Stoke Asian Handicap Preview – Sunday 26th February by @SC457

Tottenham v Stoke – White Hart Lane at 13:30 live on Sky Sports 1

My first of two Asian Handicap previews this Sunday focuses on the early kick off from White Hart Lane with Tottenham hosting Stoke.

Tottenham

Spurs currently sit third in the table thirteen points behind league leaders Chelsea. With only 4 points separating 2nd and 6th, Tottenham need a positive result to keep on track for a top 4 finish.

The Lilywhites suffered their first defeat in 10 league games last time out against Liverpool. They come into this match on the back of a draw against Gent in the Europa League which wasn’t enough to see them through to the last 16 after losing the first leg.

Tottenham are undefeated at home this season (12 matches) and have scored in every league game at the lane. They hold the second best home record in the EPL, only Chelsea have earned my points on home soil.

Spurs also home the record for the most clean sheets this season, 8 in total and have conceded the fewest (18) in the Premier League.

Stoke

Unsurprisingly, Stoke sit comfortably in mid-table. After 25 matches they are 10th on 32 points.

Away from home, the Potters average a point per game but have lost 4 of their last 6 league matches on the road.

Stoke have lost their last 2 league meetings against Spurs by 4-0 scorelines but haven’t lost at the Lane in their last two visits (W1 D1).

The Potters hold an awful record when playing in the capital though, winning just 1 of their last 20 fixtures in London, drawing 7, losing 12. They have also never gone three matches at White Hart Lane without defeat.

Asian Handicap & Total Goals

Tottenham’s record at home this season is excellent, Stoke’s away form is distinctly average. Spurs also hold a very good record over their opponents and justify their price of 1.40 to win this one.

Stoke have the ability to make a game of this and having scored in 83% of their away fixtures this season, they have a chance to get on the score sheet, even against the leagues best defence.

The goals market doesn’t offer much value however, with Over 2.75 priced at 1.87.

For my recommendation, I’m backing the hosts to cover the Asian Handicap line of -1.25 at 1.90. Although I don’t expect another 4-0 thrashing, Spurs should win this one at a canter.

Asian Handicap Recommendation: Tottenham -1.25 at 1.90
