Sevilla v Zenit Asian Handicap Betting Preview – Thursday 16th April

Sevilla v Zenit – Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium at 20:05

Another good looking tie in the quarter finals of the Europa League see’s defending champions Sevilla take on Zenit who dropped out of the Champions League to enter the knockout stages of this competition. Sevilla are big favourties at 1.67 but we look for a value bet on the Asian Handicap betting market.

Sevilla have a real love affair going with the Europa league, winning the trophy 3 times in the last 10 years and are second favourites behind Wolfsburg at a general 6.0 to retain the title. They have only lost 1 of their 10 matches in this campaign and have won all five at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium, conceding just twice in the process.

The Andalusians have enjoyed a good season domestically also, currently sitting in 5th in La Liga, 3 points behind Valencia in 4th as they look for return to the Champions League. They still have a good chance to finish in the top 4 but also have a good chance of qualifying for the UCL by winning this trophy again.

Their league form at home is exceptional, not losing in their 16 matches this season, W11 D5 and have won 19 of last 22 matches in front of their own fans. You have to go back 15 months to find the last time they lost at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium, a defeat to Real Betis last years Europa League.

Zenit are also enjoying a good domestic season, currently sitting 8 points clear at the top of the Russian league, but their European form has not as been as impressive. They only won 2 of their 6 Champions League matches to finish 3rd behind Monaco and Bayer Leverkusen.

Andre Villas-Boas’ side looked good in the last 32 tie against PSV, beating them in both legs, but their away form in Europe this season hasn’t been great, losing 4 from 7.

Zenit are also without a number of first team players for this evening’s fixture due to injury and suspensions which is another reason why Sevilla are as short as they are.

Due to Zenit’s poor away form, as well as a number of considerable absentees, and Sevilla’s incredible form at home, the value has to be backing the Spanish side to win comfortably.

Asian Handicap Recommendation: Sevilla -0.75 @ 1.88
