Santos v Chapecoense Asian Handicap Betting Preview – Thursday 3rd September by @LewisJones1992

Santos v Chapecoense – Estadio Vila Belmiro at 23:30

A Santos side that are unbeaten in their last ten fixtures in all competitions, go into a home tie against Chapecoense knowing that a win could fire them into the top seven of the table. A win for Chapecoense, who do struggle away from home, could possibly see them go 8th in the table should they cause a shock at the Vila Belmiro.

Santos are currently priced at 1.50 to win the game which is still probably a bit big when on my price guide they should realistically be around 1.33. The home side who play within the region of Sao Paulo have been the form side in the league over the last two months and another win here should strengthen their Copa Libertedores credentials.

Turkish side Fenerbache missed out on a late £11m offer for star Santos forward Gabriel who is nicknamed by the Santos fans a “Gabigol”, Peixes ability to keep hold of this forward should allow them to fulfil their potential of pushing for the top six now as the forward will also play alongside the experienced Oliveria.

With just one away win to their name this season it’s been Chapecoense’s home form that has kept them afloat in the opening part of the season, but they’re still only six points outside the relegation zone. Over the past four seasons in all competitions, Chapecoense have struggled away from home only winning a maximum of four games in a season, should their home form ever collapse we’re likely to see them scrap against relegation.

A midweek win against Cruzeiro who have won Serie A in their last two campaigns but this season look likely to get relegated. Picking up points away from home is the hallmark of a good side especially in Brazil where clubs do tend to struggle away from home and that’s exactly what Santos are currently doing as they’ve picked up five points out of their last three away games.

With a full strength side at their disposal it’s difficult to see anything other than a convincing Santos victory here so we’ll be backing them on the handicap knowing that the worst result for us is probably a void.

Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: Santos -1 at 1.90
