Bodo/Glimt v Sandefjord & Mjondalen v Valerenga
It’s been a rough 2015 for Sandjeford. Rooted to the foot of Tippilaegen, only 1 win in their last 8, no wins at all away from home and on Sunday afternoon, face a trip to Bodo/Glimt.
Bodo/Glimt, currently 8th out of 16 in the table have been sacrificing a man at the back all season long to accommodate an additional attacking threat up front. The results have been predictable with nearly two goals scored and conceded on average each game this season, high even by Norway’s standards.
Despite their seeming lack of concern for conceding goals, they have still pulled off 10 wins from 23 in 2015 and can be counted on to find the net against the best in the league.
This is most definitely not the best in the league and Bodo/Glimt look nigh on impossible to oppose at 1.6 or thereabouts, even more so having won their last 4 straight at home.
Sandjeford look certain for the drop and most recently have lost to Molde, Staebek and Viking by at least two. Look to boost your profits, and take an additional half a goal for Bodo/Glimt and back them -1 goal at 1.9. Should Bodo/Glimt only win by one, we still get the push.
Elsewhere in Norway, The late Sunday game sees an interesting looking clash as Valerenga make the trip to Mjondalen.
Valerenga’s mid season tail spin has shown little sign of slowing and having been battling for table topping supremacy a few weeks ago, they now find themselves outside of the European spots and unable to buy a result.
Mjondalen are a curious beast. Only one spot outside the relegation zone, and for the most part very leaky at the back. They possess the 2nd worst defensive record on the league and more often than not they are unable to stop teams scoring against them.
I call Mjondalen curious in the fact that before last week, they had conceded in 21 out of their 22 games but showed a willingness to come forward and attack hence their ability to land the odd result here and there. In last weeks encounter against lowly Tromso, they went into full on ‘park the bus’ mode and spent most of the game defending their lines before surviving with a 0-0 draw.
Tromso are not a good team this season and for Mjondalen be terrorised like that by such a moderate sign, is an ominous sign for their prospects of staying up.
6 weeks ago it would have been unthinkable to say anything other than an away win here, and despite Valerenga’s mini slump, this has been fully factored into the pricing up of this match.
Valerenga were much better last week than their 4-2 defeat scoreline suggests, and we’re definitely value for at least a point.
Valerenga at 2.62 (-0.5) come with risks attached, but there is little doubt they are by far the superior side and can be taken to get their season back on track.
