Tottenham host Crystal Palace this Sunday lunchtime looking to build on last weekends win over Sunderland, their first of the season. It’s not going to be easy for Spurs however, the Eagles have looked good in their opening 5 matches, starting their campaign strongly.
Last weeks 1-0 win over Sunderland showed that Spurs are still not at their best, riding their luck throughout the game before Mason’s 81st minute winner. 3 points is 3 points though and they will hope to build on that success.
Their first BPL win was followed up by a winning start in the Europa League, coming from behind to defeat Azerbaijani champions Qarabag, with new signing, Son Heung-min scoring twice. With others scoring, fans will be hoping that some of the pressure and focus will now be off Harry Kane who has not had the start to the season they would have hoped.
Pochettino will be pleased that his side are starting to gel and after back to back wins, confidence will be growing.
Palace have started the season with 9 points from their first 5 games, including a 2-1 win over champions Chelsea.
With a number of attacking options and many with a lot of pace, they are always a threat on the break but face a side in Spurs who haven’t conceded in their last 2 league games. I think Palace will break them down though.
The Eagles away record can only be matched by Arsenal over the last 10 matches and have earned more points on the road than at Selhurst Park since Pardew took over in January.
Their defence is their weakness, conceding in each of their 5 league matches so far. I think Both teams to score is nailed on and at 1.82, it’s definitely worth getting involved with.
There is more value to be had on the Asian Handicap betting market though. You can back Palace +0.5 at a big 2.06 which I make a huge bit of value.
Spurs have been getting better but they are still not quite there yet, whilst Palace have been excellent.
They were unlucky to lose against an City last time out and I’m very confident of them avoiding back to back defeats.
