Man Utd v Newcastle Asian Handicap Betting Preview – Saturday 22nd August

Man Utd v Newcastle – Old Trafford at 12:45 live on BT Sport Europe

Man Utd will be looking to make it 3 wins from 3 this Saturday lunchtime as they welcome Newcastle who are without a league win under boss Steve McClaren.

The Red Devil’s opened their campaign with an uninspiring 1-0 win over Tottenham at Old Trafford thanks to a Kyle Walker own goal. That was followed up by another below par display at Villa Park, but again they ran out 1-0 winners thanks to Adnan Janazaj’s first league goal in over a year.

Utd created just 3 opportunities in their opening 2 league matches, not enough for a team looking to improve on their 4th place finish last year.

Louis Van Gaal’s side have had a busy week, with their return to European football ending well, defeating Club Brugge 3-1 thanks to a Depay brace. The young Dutchman looked sharp as United controlled possession and created 19 chances, 9 shots on target. I fully expect them to continue where they left off on Tuesday against Newcastle tomorrow and create more chances and run out comfortable winners.

Man Utd’s home form last season was excellent and it will be hard for any team to come away with anything this term. Last year, Utd covered today’s Asian Handicap betting line of -1.5 in 10 of their 14 wins from 19 matches and at 2.18 to cover it against Newcastle, it’s hard to turn down.

Newcastle didn’t get off to the worst of starts, a 2-2 draw at home to Southampton having gone one nil down was deserved. However, last weekend’s result and performance was poor, losing to Swansea 2-0. The Swans controlled the ball and created chance after chance, limiting Newcastle to just 2 shots on target.

Conceding 4 goals in their opening 2 matches, the Toon must improve at the back. They leaked an average of 1.89 goals per game away from home last season, losing by 2 or more in 8 of their 12 losses. All of the top 4 teams covered -1.5 at hom eto newcastle last year including Man Utd.

I can see Man Utd winning this one to nil, earning Romero a third consecutive Premier League clean sheet. With that in mind, I make the 2.04 available Over 2.75 on the Asian Goals line a bit short. The value is backing the favourites to cover their Asian Handicap.

Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: Man Utd -1.5 @ 2.18
