Israel v Poland – Teddy Stadium at 19:45 GMT live at Sky Sports
Israel were thrashed 4-0 by Poland in June but the Blue-Whites could be capable of exacting a slice of revenge on their Euro 2020 qualification Group G counterparts when the two teams lock horns again in Jerusalem on Saturday.
That eye-catching result was just one of six pool triumphs secured by Poland in their opening eight outings. That impressive run of results ensured Jerzy Brzeczek’s boys’ booked their place at next summer’s tournament with two games to spare, making their price in Israel a little too skinny to consider.
The White-Eagles have kept their sheets clean in seven of those eight, whilst skipper Robert Lewandowski has displayed his class in front of goal, grabbing five Group G goals en-route to qualification. Brzeczek has named a largely unsettled squad for the fixture with two debutants in situ.
Israel unlikely to be overawed
Israel haven’t been beaten by the Poles in their home country since 1988 and are part of a four-way tussle with Austria, North Macedonia and Slovenia to join the table-toppers at next summer’s tournament. The Blue-Whites trail second spot by five points and know victory in Jerusalem is essential to keep any hopes alive.
Andi Herzog’s outfit have the greater incentive on Saturday, as well as the attacking weapons to hurt Poland. Striker Eren Zahavi tops the qualification goalscoring charts with 11 goals and is joined by Sevilla forward Moanes Dabour in a fearsome front pairing that’s contributed 14 of the team’s 15 goals overall.
Austria were comfortably dispatched in Haifa earlier this year, whilst whipping boys Latvia were sliced and diced Beersheba last month with Israel racking up 28 shots – 15 of which were on-target – and 72% possession in their recent 3-1 success. Clearly, home is where the heart is for the Blue-Whites.
Value siding with the hosts
Poland have eked out narrow 1-0 victories at Austria and Macedonia when qualification remained as competitive as ever, and the visitors were beaten 2-0 on their trip to Slovenia as recently as September. Results and performances showed the league leaders aren’t quite as fearsome when away from Warsaw.
With that in mind, there could be mileage in supporting Israel with a +0.25 Азиатский гандикап start at 1.76 on Saturday. This selection would see a stalemate return a half-stakes profit with a home victory returning a full-stakes pay-out.
Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: Israel +0.25 at 1.760
