Freiburg v RB Leipzig Asian Handicap Preview – Friday 25th November

Freiburg v RB Leipzig – Dreisamstadion at 19:30 live on BT Sport 3

Eleven games into the new Bundesliga season and Bayern Munich find themselves off the top of the table following their Der Klassiker defeat at rivals Borussia Dortmund last weekend.

But victory hasn’t propelled Dortmund to the top of the tree, instead newly-promoted Leipzig have continued their meteoric ascent up the German ladder to take over leadership in the top-tier.

‘The most hated team in Germany’ is how the Red Bull funded club have been branded outside of Leipzig due to their aggressive use of corporate sponsorship. But nobody can deny Die Roten Bullen haven’t been exceptional since promotion.

Leipzig title contenders?

Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men have ignored negative press to produce a 69.32% shots-on-target ratio return – only marginally worse than Bayern’s – and in doing so have also become the first newly-promoted side to avoid defeat in their first 11 fixtures in the top-flight (W8-D3-L0).

Last weekend Leipzig came from behind to beat Bayer Leverkusen 3-2 at the BayArena, their sixth successive Bundesliga triumph. The performance drew praise from Leverkusen boss Roger Schmidt as well as Dortmund head coach Thomas Tuchel – both agreeing the debutants are capable of going the distance.

Hasenhuttl only arrived in the summer but has already imposed an exhilarating style on Leipzig in a squad stocked with talented youngsters. Die Roten Bullen boast the youngest squad in the Bundesliga and have also already beaten Dortmund and Wolfsburg, taken a point from Gladbach and thrashed Hamburg.

RB built for success

Sporting director Ralf Rangnick has been at the club since 2013, orchestrating their stunning rise from the fourth division, and even doubling up as coach at the end of last season. Rangnick brought in Hasenhuttl this summer following his extraordinary success with Ingolstadt.

Hasenhuttl’s Ingolstadt side employed a ruthlessly organised defensive set-up and the new boss has brought the same discipline to Leipzig. With a wise summer spending spree adding a wealth of pace and quality to their front line with the likes of Naby Keita, Timo Werner and Oliver Burke, Friday night’s guests now present a potent cocktail for opposition outfits.

The combination of strength in defence and pace up front has worked brilliantly for RB. Die Roten Bullen have scored first in seven of their eight victories, allowing them to close ranks and release the likes of Burke and Werner on the counter.

Only three clubs have fired in more shots than Hasenhuttl’s charges but only Bayern are facing fewer attempts. It gives RB a superb 61.75% shot ratio figure – comfortably second-best behind the defending champions.

Vulnerable Freiburg

On Friday they travel south-west as fair favourites to fellow promoted outfit Freiburg. The hosts have W5-D0-L6 with 12 of their 15 points picked up on home soil; indeed, only Wolfsburg have left the Schwarzwald-Stadion with a win.

However, lower league opponents Sandhausen ousted Freiburg from the DFB Pokal on penalties following a 3-3 draw and that convincing 3-0 defeat when welcoming the Wolves has seen the home side ship at least two goals in seven of their last 12 matches.

A growing injury list will also pose some problems for Christian Streich’s side with top scorer Max Philipp and centre-back Caglar Soyuncu both expected to miss out having suffered knocks in the 4-2 reverse at Mainz last weekend.

The Asian Handicap angle

Freiburg’s last seven outings have broken the Over 2.5 Goals barrier with 9/11 (82%) Bundesliga duels also proving profitable since promotion. Considering Leipzig have scored two or more goals in four of their six road trips and 7/11 (64%) encounters have seen both sides score, it may pay to get with goals.

Over 2.5 Goals can be snapped up at a generous 1.91 on Friday night, a selection that’s well worth supporting alongside the 1.98 on an Leipzig extending their winning streak in the -0.50 Asian Handicap betting market.

Азиатский гандикап Recommendations: RB Leipzig -0.5 1.98 & Over 2.5 goals a 1.91
