Arsenal v Chelsea – 19th January Saturday

Arsenal v Chelsea – Emirates Stadium at 17:30 GMT

A huge battle is set to take place in London. Arsenal will be hosting Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium in a rousing derby for their Premier League clash on Saturday. The Gunners will enter this match with Chelsea fresh off the back of a disappointing fixture against West Ham United. Arsenal weren’t able to dominate the game and this quality of performance will be worrying on Saturday. They will need to achieve a higher form of performance against Chelsea to prevent their top-four ambitions from ending.

Despite their poor performance lately, the Gunners have been overall remarkable especially when they have the advantage of playing at home. Their form on the road has been kind of a letdown, winning just one of their previous six away matches. They will need to work harder in order to secure a victory against Chelsea, especially now that they find themselves leveled with 6th placed Manchester United who are developing fast under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Blues, on the other hand, increased the gap over the Gunners when they managed to win against Newcastle United over the weekend despite both being at their best form lately. Chelsea will have the opportunity to end one of their rivals’ hopes of a top four finish in the Premier League if they come out successful on Saturday. Arsenal’s defensive ways haven’t been looking good throughout the season and this might come as an advantage for Chelsea.

A top four finish and a spot in the Champions League for next season are at stake on Saturday. A win for the Blues just might secure their spot and would likely get Arsenal out of the competition.

–          Danny Welbeck and Rob Holding are both long-term absentees for the Gunners.

–          Henrikh Mkhitaryan will remain sidelined for the clash against the Blues.

–          Alvaro Morata’s appearance on Saturday’s clash remains a doubt.

–          Ruben Loftus-Cheek is also likely unavailable on Saturday due to an ongoing back problem.

Arsenal: 3-4-3

Bernd Leno, Sokratis, Shkodran Mustafi, Laurent Koscielny, Hector Bellerin, Lucas Torreira, Granit Xhaka, Sead Kolasinac, Mesut Ozil, Alexandre Lacazette, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Chelsea: 4-3-3

Kepa Arrizabalaga, Cesar Azpilicueta, Antonio Rudiger, David Luiz, Marcos Alonso, Jorginho, N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic, Pedro, William, Eden Hazard

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been one of the most important players for Arsenal especially this season. The Gabonese striker managed to score a massive 24 goals in his 35 Premier League appearances since joining the Gunners, and 15 of these goals came from 18 of his home fixtures. Expect him to give his all when they take on the Blues on Saturday.

Eden Hazard has been the key player for Chelsea this season. He’s the leading assist maker in the Premier League with at least 10 assists to his name and has already notched up at least 12 goals. Ever since he joined the Blues, he has been a fundamental player Chelsea have relied on, this season more than ever before.

Arsenal v Chelsea: 2-2

This match should give plenty of attacking plays for both teams, but Arsenal and Chelsea will likely share the spoils on Saturday considering both of their form lately. The Blues came back to their winning ways after a 0-1 loss to Leicester and a 0-0 draw with Southampton. The defensive strategies for the Gunners, on the other hand, have been one of their main problems throughout the season and it looks like it won’t be improving any time soon especially since Saturday’s match is looming.
