Real Sociedad v Real Madrid Asian Handicap Preview – 12th May Sunday

Real Sociedad v Real Madrid – Anoeta Stadium at 17:30 GMT+1 live at Premier Sports

Real Madrid secured third place in La Liga last week, with a sketchy 3-2 success at home to relegation battling Villarreal. Manager Zinedine Zidane continued his policy of end-of-season rotations, and it was one of his new faces that secured all three points for Los Blancos as forgotten man Mariano Diaz impressed.

Having starred with Lyon on-loan last term, Mariano has had few opportunities at the Santiago Bernabeu in 2018/19. However, the youngster was one of few highlight performances from Real Madrid, although his future beyond this season under Zidane remains uncertain.

Fellow youngster Brahim Diaz also caught the eye for Los Blancos but the Spanish giants again failed to impress the dwindling crowds in the capital. Considering plenty of change is expected at the club in the summer, plus Zidane’s policy to trial and test his squad out, disjointed displays are commonplace.

Madrid have told Gareth Bale, Dani Ceballos and Marcos Llorente they will be allowed to leave this summer and the trio are unlikely to feature as Los Blancos head to San Sebastian on Sunday. Nevertheless, Real appear too short to support in the pre-match markets with the Basque hosts attractive to avoid defeat.

Sociedad appealing underdogs

Back-to-back victories over Alaves and Getafe have kept La Real in the running for seventh and European qualification. Imanol Alguacil’s outfit are three points shy of regional rivals Athletic Bilbao and hold plenty of appeal as 1.70 underdogs with a +0.50 start on the Asian Handicap line this weekend.

Sociedad have tended to perform with aplomb against the bottom-half in recent seasons whilst struggling against the league’s elite. However, exclude results against Barcelona and Atletico Madrid and La Real have only lost nine of their 32 La Liga matches across the campaign, highlighting their competitive streak.

Only two of those nine losses arrived by a margin of two goals or more and Sociedad have the ability to pick up another positive result in front of their home supporters against a Real Madrid side that have been looking forward to their summer holidays for some time now.

Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: Real Sociedad +0.50 at 1.700
