RB Leipzig v Augsburg – Red Bull Arena at 14:30 GMT LIVE AT BT Sport
RB Leipzig moved to the top of the Bundesliga after last Saturday’s convincing 3-0 success against Fortuna Dusseldorf. Die Rotten Bullen now face a fascinating fixture with Borussia Dortmund in midweek before concluding their Hinrunde efforts with a very winnable match-up at home to Augsburg this weekend.
Without knowing the outcome of their meeting with Dortmund, I’m still keen to support Julian Nagelsmann’s men on the Asian Handicap for Saturday’s clash with Augsburg. The high-flyers are available to support at 1.75 with a -1.5 hurdle, meaning money will be made if RB are victorious by two goals or more.
Leipzig ended Matchday 15 with that aforementioned sixth straight Bundesliga triumph in Dusseldorf. The win was comprehensive as the final score suggested as Die Rotten Bullen racked up at least three leagues for the sixth consecutive match. RB have now scored in their last 16 top-flight games on the spin.
Leipzig capable of cushy win
Nagelsmann’s outfit have plundered 25 goals in six Bundesliga games, racked up at least three goals in nine of 15 league outings, whilst generating a whopping 1.50 Expected Goals (xG) from open play on average. Die Rotten Bullen are also firing in over 10 shots per-game from inside the opposition’s penalty area.
Bang-in-form top goalscorer Timo Werner has been in exceptional form. The German international has had a hand in 29 goals in just 23 games in all competitions since Nagelsmann arrived. And the speedster has notched an incredible 10 times in his last six outings, scoring in each encounter.
Leipzig have proven reliable operators when taking on the top-flight’s lesser lights under their new boss, too. Die Rotten Bullen have won all nine matches against clubs in ninth and below, by an aggregate of 34-7. Seven of those nine victories would have seen our selected bet pay-out profit this term.
Improving Augsburg to fall short
Augsburg boss Martin Schmidt has eased pressure on his position following a fine five-game spell that’s seen Die Fuggerstädter earn 13 points (W4-D1-L0). The upturn in fortunes has pushed the Bavarians into the safety of mid-table and eight points ahead of 16th-place in the Bundesliga.
However, four of those fixtures came against basement battlers and Augsburg’s record against the leading lights is questionable. Schmidt’s side have shipped 18 of their 28-goal tally in games against Bayern Munich, Schalke, Leverkusen, Dortmund and Monchengladbach, including 5-1 shellacking’s at the latter pair.
Augsburg have been beaten in 13 of 25 away days since the start of last season, including six losses in eight trips to top-six teams, suggesting they’ll fall short on their visit to Leipzig on Saturday afternoon.
Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: RB Leipzig -1.50 at 1.750
