Paris Saint-Germain v Barcelona – Parc des Princes at 19:45 live on Sky Sports 1
The Champions League Quarter Finals continue this evening and the pick of the 2 matches has to be PSG v Barcelona at the Parc de Princes. The 2 sides faced each other in the group stages with Barcelona finishing top, but honours were even with both sides picking up 3 points on home soil. Both sides covered the Asian Handicap line in their home games and that is where the value lies this evening.
PSG and Barca both have their reasons to feel confident in making it through to the Semi Finals but with 6 first team players out tonight, PSG could find it difficult to take a significant advantage to the Camp Nou next week. Les Parisiens are without suspended Verratti, Aurier and Ibrahimovic, as well as Luiz, Motta, and Moura who are all injured. With depth in their squad they can still field a strong side but not as strong as Laurent Blanc would have liked when hosting Barcelona.
Les Rouge-et-Bleu are having a very solid season domestically and are now favourties for the Ligue 1 title, currently 1 point in front of Lyon with 7 to play. Their home record in the league has been exceptional, winning 11 of their 15 matches, drawing 4. Their Champions League home for is consistent to that in France, having not lost in their last 10 at Parc des Princes, W7 D3, in fact they are now unbeaten in 28 matches in all competitions at home.
Barcelona are having a fantastic season also, sitting at the top of La Liga, 2 points ahead of Real Madrid as they enter the final 7 matches. They dropped points away to Sevilla at the weekend, having gone 2 nil up, they only managed to walk away with a point.
The Blaugrana’s away record has been good domestically this term, W11 D3 L2 but the same can’t be said for their record on the road in the Champions League. They have only lost one in four this season, (to PSG), but looking at their last 18 away knockout matches in the competition, they have lost 6, winning just 5, drawing 7. When you consider this along with PSG’s home form, PSG +0.5 at 2.19 has to be the value bet of the week.
Another market of interest is the Over/Under 2.5 goals. The two group meetings between the sides saw 9 goals, also in their last 10 European home and away fixtures, 12 of the 20 matches had 3 goals or more. The 1.9 available on Over 2.5 is certainly appealing but for my recommendation I’m going to stick with the home side with the half a goal.
Asian Handicap Recommendation: Paris Saint-Germain +0.5 @ 2.19
