Anfield – 8TH November at 12.45pm.
Liverpool host Chelsea in the lunch time kick off this Saturday for the first time since the infamous ‘Gerrard Slip’ which eventually cost them the title. Liverpool haven’t hit the form of last season, whilst Chelsea are the team to catch with 26 points from a possible 30.
The Blues head in to this match unbeaten in the Premier League with 8 wins and 2 draws and despite having one fit striker for most of the season, have scored in all 10 matches. José Mourinho was critical of his players after their midweek draw with Maribor, but just as Liverpool’s much publicised team selection, Mourinho also rotated his squad. Expect Diego Costa, Thibaut Courtois, Gary Cahill and Oscar all to return for this one.
Liverpool’s form has been poor in recent weeks, only winning one match from their last 5, keeping one clean sheet in their last 14 games. Brendan Rodgers’ men have only won once at Anfield this season with 62% of their goals coming away from home. His choice to leave out 7 first team players against Real Madrid on Tuesday was the talking point of the week, being heavily criticised by some.
An obvious result here would be 0-1 in favour of the London Club, however, Chelsea haven’t kept a clean sheet away from home this season. I expect Liverpool to be up for this one after resting players for their midweek match with this fixture in mind. Mourinho has been caught out on two occasions this season having gone 1-0 up, then having to settle for the draw. With Costa back however, I would expect Chelsea to look for more this weekend and with that in mind, the advised trade on this match is CHELSEA -0.25 @ 1.92
