Upton Park – Saturday 29th November at 15:00
In form Newcastle Utd travel to east London this Saturday to face a West Ham side sitting 6th in the table after a very strong start to the season. The Hammers have beaten the likes of Liverpool and Man City to be one of the League’s surprise packages. This should be a very tightly fought contest between the two and both will have to be at their best to record another victory.
West Ham’s strong start has slowed down recently having only managed two points from their last 3 matches which also saw them lose to Everton last weekend at Goodison. West Ham were without 5 key players for that match, including top scorer Diafaro Sakho. He, Valencia, Downing, Song and Kouyate are all only possibilities for Saturday’s encounter at this stage. Andy Caroll made his first start of the season against Everton and would relish the chance to play a big part in this one, as would Kevin Nolan. The Hammers have been strong at Upton Park this season and have 3 wins in their last 4.
Newcastle are the countries in form side winning their last 5 and haven’t lost since the 1-0 defeat to Stoke 2 months ago. Newcastle now sit 5th in the table after a dreadful start to the season, earning 17 of their 19 points in their last 8 matches. The Magpies have a few injury concerns of their own with Colloccini, Taylor, Tiote and Krul all carrying injuries through the week but will all hope to be passed fit. Newcastle have scored 2 or more goals in each of their last 3 away fixtures and with their confidence sky high, they will fancy their chances on Saturday.
The outcome of this match could all depend on the West Ham team selection and who they will have at their disposal after late fitness tests. Newcastle are in top form though and with Newcastle +0.25 @ 2.11 on the Asian Handicap, I think this is a good value bet.
