Aston Villa v Leicester – Betting Preview

Villa Park – Sunday 7th December at 16:00

This weekend’s Premier League action is rounded off by a somewhat less than appealing Midlands Derby, as Leicester City take the short trip over to Villa Park in the live Sunday evening match.

Less than appealing may initially sound harsh, but when you consider Aston Villa are sitting bottom of the home table with just one win, five points and only four goals scored from their six home matches. Plus, Leicester currently sit 19th in the away table with just one win, three points and three goals from their seven away games. You can see why this match could easily claim the title of lowest viewed live TV match of the season.

However, there is some silver lining to that cloud because Villa have finally found some form and are on a run of four games unbeaten, culminating in victory at Selhurst Park against Crystal Palace on Tuesday night.

Also, despite the Foxes enduring a torrid first season in the Premier League, they have scored three goals in their last two games. Furthermore, a local Derby could be just what Nigel Pearson’s beleaguered side need to finally kick start their season.

Paul Lambert will be glad that Christian Benteke returned to the side with a goal in midweek because his goals could ultimately be the difference between safety and relegation. However, with the lack of goals so far from both these teams, it could pay to back Under 2.5 Goals at 1.84.

Despite the poor home record, with Benteke back in the team and some good form coming into this Derby it’s a great chance for Aston Villa to pick up three more points. The advised trade is to back Aston Villa -0.5 at 2.40.
