Palmeiras v Vitoria – Allianz Parque at 20:00

On Sunday evening we’ll be taking a look at the game between Palmeiras and Vitoria as Palmeiras look to regain their top of the table spot over their local rivals Santos and Corinthians who both sit above them in the Serie A table.

After three consecutive defeats to Cruzeiro,Santos and Figueriense, Vitoria managed to pick up an important three points on Wednesday evening to help move them away from the relegation zone. Two late goals from Marinho (88) and Kieza (92) gave Vitoria a 3-1 win and helped move them up into 13th place in the table.

With Gabriel Jesus currently on the way to the UK to complete his move to Manchester City, it’s going to be a lot tougher for Palmeiras to break down Vitoria in this game. Some good news however for Palmeiras, is that they’ve signed a contract with Manchester City to state that G.Jesus can return on loan for the remainder of the season once his medical and  paperwork are complete.

I’m expecting Palmeiras to still control the intensity of the game, they go off at1.30 to win the game in 90 minutes which is probably a little bit short considering Palmeiras have lost recently against Atletico MG and Internacional, although this game should allow them to create a lot more goal scoring chances.

Vitoria will look to play a deep 4-5-1 with Dagoberto playing behind former Nautico forward Kieza who is the clubs registered number nine. Dagoberto will be asked to drop into midfield when his team are out of possession. They’ll also play Colombian midfielder Sherman Cardenas on the right side of midfield. Cardenas should ring a bell to Football Manager players as the midfielder was touted as the best thing in South America since sliced bread back in 2005.

I think Vitoria will be difficult to break down and with the fact that Palmeiras are playing away to Chapecoense on Thursday evening, it will mean that they have a lot less recovery time to play their high intensity game.

Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: Under 2.5 goals at 1.79
