NBA Match Previews – 27th March Wednesday

Bucks v Rockets

A possible NBA finals preview is set to take place when Houston Rockets make a trip to the Fiserv Forum to face the Milwaukee Bucks for a thrilling NBA showdown. The visitors were successful in five of their past six games, including consecutive victories against the New Orleans Pelicans and the San Antonio Spurs. The hosts, meanwhile, recently bounced back from their loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers when they knocked off the Cavs in a rematch and the Miami Heat.

Furthermore, this match-up should be quite a spectacle between the leaders in the NBA MVP title race – Milwaukee forward Giannis Antetokounmpo and Houston guard James Harden. When these two sides met earlier this season, Milwaukee cruised past Houston in a 116-109 victory. Antetokounmpo led the Bucks with 27 points and 21 rebounds, while Harden assisted the Rockets with 42 points, 11 boards, and 6 assists.

The Rockets are currently seated at the third spot in the Western Conference table after recorded their 14th win in the past 16 games when they claimed 113-90 victory on the road against the Pelicans. With eight games remaining, Houston still have a lot of work to do if they want to hold off the fourth-placed Portland, and top the Nuggets and Warriors in the table.

On the other hand, the Bucks are dominating the Eastern Conference standings. However, they will have to play it safe since key player Antetokounmpo is still recovering from a recent ankle injury. Apart from this, Milwaukee are still making some adjustments due to injury issues. Malcolm Brogdon is out until further notice after suffering from a plantar fascia tear in his right foot. Pau Gasol is also out for the remainder of the regular season due to an ankle injury.

Despite these, expect a rousing clash between these two. There’s no way either team is going to let the other come out victorious.

Timberwolves v Clippers

The Los Angeles Clippers and Minnesota Timberwolves will meet on Wednesday in an exciting NBA clash at the Target Center. The hosts will be looking for another victory to keep their momentum going with their five-game winning run. The visitors, on the other hand, will enter this match in high spirits after emerging from a losing streak.

The Minnesota Timberwolves could really use a victory after being overpowered in 10 of their last 15 games. Karl-Anthony Towns is leading the Wolves with an average of 24.7 points and 12.5 rebounds. Aside from that, he recently recorded his seventh consecutive double-double over the weekend. He has been one of the key players for Minnesota’s effort to rebuild themselves.

The Timberwolves have actually been pretty good at home this season. Furthermore, they were able to win seven of the previous eight clashes against the Clippers. However, the visitors are currently riding a five-match winning streak, winning with an average of 5.8 points per game.

On the other hand, the Los Angeles Clippers recently surged to the fifth spot in the Western Conference table after their 124-113 win against the New York Knicks over the weekend. With just eight games left in the regular season, Los Angeles are just two matches behind the Portland Trail Blazers for the fourth spot in the standings.

Furthermore, the Clippers will enter this match aiming to claim their 12th victory in 13 games. If the Clippers want to further climb up the ladder, they will have to avoid any more slip-ups and come out victorious on Wednesday against the Wolves.

Nuggets v Pistons

The Denver Nuggets are fighting to top the Western Conference table and will aim to bounce back from a poor performance when they welcome the Detroit Pistons to the Pepsi Center for their NBA showdown. The hosts were badly beaten on the road by the Indiana Pacers on Sunday. The 124-88 loss resulted to them lagging a half-game behind first placed Golden State Warriors.

Prior to their loss to Indiana, the Nuggets were on a six-game winning streak, including the first three of a four-match road trip. Denver are currently averaging on a total of 111.7 points. Nikola Jokic is leading the team with an average of 20 points and 14 rebounds over the last two games. He also scored in double digits in each of his previous 39 appearances with the Nuggets.

To top things off, the Denver Nuggets were able to come out victorious in 12 of their previous 14 fixtures at home.  Denver were able to play well offensively, but they showed better performances when it comes to their defence. However, they gave up massive points when they lost to the Pacers and will need to do better go cruise past the Pistons.

In the meantime, the Detroit Pistons will enter this match having lost three of their previous four games on the road. They were winless over the weekend against two Western Conference top teams – Portland and Golden State. The Pistons will need to double their efforts come Wednesday if they want to bounce back from the string of losses.

However, it would be quite a challenge for the visitors since they will be coming up against a side which is battling the Warriors for the top spot in the Western Conference.
