Man City v QPR – Etihad Stadium at 13:30 live on Sky Sports 1
QPR travel to Manchester this Sunday knowing a defeat will seal their fate and send them down to the Championship. If Rangers were to avoid defeat, it would only be delaying the inevitable but I’m sure they would like to hang on a little bit longer.
The Hoops are big underdogs though, priced up at 15.0 to win the match and 7.5 to draw as they did in the reverse fixture at Loftus Road back in November. City are 1.22 to win you can back them odds against at -2 on the Asian Handicap betting market.
Man City have rediscovered a bit of form, winning their last 3 league matches after losing 4 of their previous 6. It’s no coincidence that Sergio Aguero has been scoring, and City winning, netting in his last 3 Premier League appearances and is a 1.22 shot to take the top scorer accolade for the first time. The Argentine striker has scored 3 times in his 4 Premier League matches against QPR, including his famous winner on the last day of the 2011/12 season to win City the league.
The Citizens have won their last 5 league matches at the Etihad, scoring 15 goals. They have scored two or more in 8 of their last 10 homes matches in the Premier League and 7 out of their 12 wins at the Etihad have been by 2 goals or more this term.
Despite battling courageously, QPR continue to fall short in terms of their results. They have W2 D2 L8 in their last 12 matches but just one of those 8 losses have been by more than one goal. To stand any chance of staying up now, they need to win all of their last 3 games, starting with City this Sunday, and hope other results go there way. Unfortunately for Rangers fans, I just don’t see that happening.
I don’t want to completely write off QPR in the match due to their ability to keep matches close, but a shock is unlikely. Man City are still fight for 2nd place and can keep the pressure on Arsenal with a win here, going 3 points clear of the Gunners, who play on Monday and also have a game in hand.
I’m sitting on the fence for this one in terms of an Asian Handicap betting recommendation because with the line at -2, I’m not confident in City winning by 3 or QPR losing by the odd goal.
My recommendation will be on the Over/Unders market as I make Over 3.5 goals at 2.01 a tasty bit of value.
Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: Over 3.5 goals @ 2.01
Prices correct at time of writing.
