Liverpool v Arsenal – Anfield at 17:30 live on BT Sport 1
My latest Asian Handicap preview focuses on Saturday’s late kick-off between Liverpool and Arsenal in the Premier League.
Both sides have been struggling for form in recent weeks and this clash could prove important, in light of which club finishes in the Champions League places come the end of the season.
The Reds come into this fixture off the back of Monday’s 3-1 defeat against Leicester.
Liverpool have certainly hit a sticky patch, as they’ve only managed to win 1 of their last 7 Premier League games.
As a result, the home side have slipped down to 5th in the Premier League table and are now 1 point behind opponents Arsenal.
Liverpool have conceded 8 goals in their last 5 matches and have looked all over the place defensively of late.
At home however, The Reds have only lost 1 match all season (3-2 defeat to Swansea) and as they tend to perform better against the so called ‘bigger clubs’, I’m expecting a good performance from Klopp’s men.
The Gunners come into this tie with fresh legs after having a week off, as their Premier League game against Southampton was postponed last weekend due to The Saints’ EFL Cup run.
Arsenal are currently sat 4th in the Premier League, but they look to be out of the title race yet again, as they are 13 points behind league leaders Chelsea.
They do remain in the FA Cup however and have drawn a nice tie against Lincoln City in the quarter-finals, although they look set to exit the Champions League, after a 5-1 thrashing against Bayern Munich in the 1st leg of their last 16 tie.
In their last Premier League game, Arsenal beat Hull 2-0, but they’ve slipped up in recent weeks against Watford (2-1) and Chelsea (3-1).
The visitors have scored in each of their last 11 away league matches however and Alexis Sanchez has been Arsenal’s standout performer, with 17 Premier League goals to his name already this season.
Asian Handicap Prices and Total Goals
Liverpool are the favourites to win this tie and can be backed -0.25 on the Asian Handicap market at 1.84. In my opinion however, this game is too close to call and therefore there is better value on the Asian Total Goals market.
7 of Liverpool’s last 12 games at home have seen at least 3 goals, with 8 of them seeing both teams get on the scoresheet.
Arsenal have seen at 3 goals scored in 9 of their last 11 games on the road too and therefore taking all this into account, backing over 2.75 goals at evens looks value.
Asian Handicap Recommendation: Over 2.75 goals at 2.00
