Leicester v Arsenal – King Power Stadium at 17:30 live on BT Sport 1
Last season’s champions Leicester City face runners up, Arsenal at the King Power Stadium this Saturday evening. There’s some value on the Asian Handicap betting market, but the real opportunity lies in the goals markets.
Both sides began this years campaign with a defeat and both mangers will be keen to get some points on the board.
Leicester were expected to open their title defence with a win away to newly promoted Hull City. It was always going to be a difficult, if not impossible task for the Foxes to replicate what they did last season, but losing to Hull came as a surprise.
Claudio Ranieri has done well to keep hold of most of his star players, with Riyad Mahrez signing a new 4 year deal this week. However, one notable absentee in their defeat at Hull was N’Golo Kante, who left the club in the Summer for Chelsea and was missed.
Their squad has been bolstered with some new signings and despite their opening weekend set back, they have the players to make a challenge for a European football spot this season.
Arsenal opened their new season, conceding four goals at home to Liverpool, losing 4-3. The Gunners are notoriously slow starters, but fans were not happy during last Sunday’s match, voicing their opinions throughout the 90 minutes.
Fans are once again frustrated at the lack of activity in the transfer market, and it’s Wenger who is the target of those frustrations. With just one notable signing this Summer, Granit Xhaka, the squad which failed to win the title last season, and arguably their best chance in 12 years, has not been strengthened.
There is a crisis at the back, with Per Metesacker and Gabriel out injured. Laurent Koscielny was also missing against Liverpool leaving a young and inexperienced back line. Koscielny is in line to return for this one, along with Ozil and Giroud who also missed the opening match.
Despite their depleted defence and loss last week, Arsenal come into this match as 2.5 favourties and its understandable looking a their record.
They are unbeaten in the league against Leicester in 19 matches and have never lost at the King Power Stadium. You have to go back to 1994 for the last time the Foxes picked up 3 points against the Gunners.
Arsenal were also only one of two teams to defeat Leicester last season and the only team to beat them twice. In last terms corresponding fixture, Arsenal won 5-2 with Alexis Sanchez bagging a hat-trick.
In fact, one thing you can be sure of in a match between these two, is there will be goals. In each of their last 7 league meetings, both teams have found the back of the net. Seven of their last 10 meeting in the Premier League has seen a minimum of 3 goals and in that span, the average amount of goals per game is 3.5.
I think there is a bit of value on Leicester on the Asian Handicap betting market for this one, but Over 2.75 goals on the Asian line at 2.01 is my value bet and recommendation.
Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: Over 2.75 goals at 2.01
