Huesca v Atletico Madrid – Estadio El Alcoraz at 17:30 GMT live at Eleven Sports
Huesca are embarking upon their debut season in La Liga having gained automatic promotion last term as they missed out on winning the Segunda by just a single point in 2017/18. However, the newcomers first taste of life in the Spanish top-flight hasn’t yet gone to plan.
Head coach Rubi was given the Espanyol gig in the summer and the inexperienced Leo Franco took charge. A five-point haul from their first eight games saw the Argentine axed with Francisco arriving in the hot-seat, although results have barely improved with Huesca returning W1-D3-L7 since.
The Aragon outfit are already 10 points from safety, losing 12 times in their last 17 matches, as well as being beaten in all five of their fixtures with top-five sides. Of course, Huesca did upset the odds to overcome Real Betis in their most recent outing at their Estadio El Alcoraz base but that match remains a major outlier.
The hosts have failed to score on eight occasions and only scored more than a solitary strike in five contests. That paltry effort in the final-third is likely to prove their undoing when welcoming title challengers Atletico Madrid this Saturday evening.
Atletico can overcome newcomers
Atletico Madrid beat the basement-dwellers 3-0 in the reverse fixture and are rated 1.73 shots to complete the double this weekend. Diego Simeone’s side tend to be ruthless operators against bottom-half sides, beating each of their last five promoted opponents, and coming out on top in 78% of their duels against the same standard of opposition since the start of 2014/15.
Los Colchoneros arrive in Aragon unbeaten in 16 matches across all competitions since their reverse against Dortmund in the Champions League – Atleti have leaked only nine times in that sample, winning four of their most recent five in La Liga to stay within five points of table-topping Barcelona.
Admittedly, Simeone’s men haven’t been completely trustworthy on their travels in 2018/19 but the odds on offer for an away victory are too good to turn down on this occasion.
Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: Atletico Madrid -0.50 at 1.730
