Houston Rockets v Denver Nuggets Handicap Preview – Tuesday 15th December

Houston Rockets at Denver Nuggets – Pepsi Centre at 02:10

More NBA action late Monday night as the Denver Nuggets host the Houston Rockets at 2.10am UK time.

Houston have been slow to get going in the 2015/16 season but, are now finally hitting their stride as they look to make another push for the playoffs. After their awful 4-7 start to the season, new coach JB Bickerstaff has got the Rockets playing some decent basketball to improve to 12-12 for the season. From a team being outscored by 8 points a game on average at the start of the season, they are now outscoring opponents by an average of 2.

James Harden is leading the way with all-star performances. Harden is now averaging 29 points, 6.8 assists and 6.3 rebounds in 2015/16. Only 6 players in history have averaged these numbers over a season including Michael Jordan, James LeBron and Larry Bird. With the Rockets now having scored over 100 points in all of their last 9 games, this is their formula for success and look a tough visit for any side in the league at present.

Houston have also scored 120+ points for the second time in 4 games. They only managed this 4 times in the whole of last season. This has been helped by being able to nail 15+ 3-pointers in 3 of their last 4 outings.

The Nuggets have had arguably their best run of the season as of late. Despite sliding to 9-14 for the season, they have managed to pick off 3 of their last 4 games against the T-Wolves, the inept 76ers and Raptors. None of those games were won by more than a single shot and in their previous 8 games, they didn’t get to within 7 points of any opponent.

In the win against Minnesota on Friday night, it was their first at home in 5 games. It took overtime to get past the Timberwolves, and can think themselves lucky they were able to get to that after only shooting for 29% in the 2nd quarter. The Timberwolves didn’t take advantage and let Denver back into the game.

With the Rockets in full flow, I don’t see a spread of -4.5 being enough for the Nuggets to stay competitive and expect the Rockets to win comfortably.

Handicap Betting Recommendation: Houston Rockets -4.5 at 1.95
