FC Porto v Bayern Munich – Estadio do Dragao at 19:45 live on Sky Sports 5

Favourties for the competition, Bayern Munich take on the outsiders, Porto this evening in what should be a good matchup between two sides with excellent European history. As you would expect Bayern are the shortest priced side of the 8 quarter finalists to progress to the Semi Finals but Porto’s home record, both domestically and in Europe, suggests this will be a close 1st leg.

Asian Handicap punters will recall Bayern Munich have only covered the line on one occasion in their 4 away UCL matches this season and will be skeptical about backing them to do so this evening.

The Bavarian’s are on their way to yet another Bundesliga title, a third in a row, with 6 games to play they are 10 points clear of 2nd place Wolfsburg after a dominant season. They have only lost once away in the league this term, W11 D3 and have only conceded 7 in 15 matches, 4 of those coming in their only defeat at Wolfsburg.

Munich have only won 2 of their 4 matches on the road in the Champions League this season though along with losing to Man City and only managing a 0-0 draw against Shakhtar Donetsk in the last 16. They relied on their home leg to dispatch of the Ukranian’s, winning 7-0 at the Allianz Arena and with several first team player out, Guardiola may be tempted to use a similar tact this evening.

The German champions will be without David Alaba, Arjen Robben, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Franck Ribery and Javi Martinez which will certainly boost Porto’s chances of getting something out of tonight’s match.

Porto have had a good domestic season also, currently in a battle with Benfica for the Portuguese title, just 3 points behind them in 2nd with half a dozen games left. The Dragons have only lost once at home in the league this season, against Benfica, winning 13 and drawing just once.

They have not lost in this UCL campaign, W5 D3, but had arguably the easiest group with Bilbao, Shakhtar and BATE Borisov. Shakthtar, knocked out by Bayern in the last 16, held Porto both at the Dragao and in Donetsk.

The Portuguese side were handed possibly the best draw in the last round, Swiss side Basel, and progressed comfortably 5-1 on aggregate, after a 1-1 draw away and a 4-0 win at home. They have only lost twice in their last 8 in the UCL at Estadio do Dragao and represent value +0.5 at 2.1.

Asian Handicap Recommendation: FC Porto +0.5 @ 2.1
