Crystal Palace v Man Utd – Selhurst Park at 17:30 live on Sky Sports 1

Saturday’s evening kick off see’s Man Utd travel to south London to face a Palace side who are on run of form similar to their own. The two out of form sides are competing for their first win in 4 having lost their previous 3 league matches in a row. Prior to these defeats, the Eagles had won 4 on the bounce and Utd had won 6, both sides will be looking to get back to winning ways this weekend.

Palace and Utd’s respective home and away form has been mediocre to say the least this season and a draw will be a popular bet, but Utd can secure a top 4 finish this weekend with a win if Liverpool fail to beat Chelsea on Sunday.

Crystal Palace are an odds against shot with half a goal advantage on the Asian Handicap betting market but at 2.02 this doesn’t represent value to me. They have the 3rd worst home record in the league and have only been profitable on 8 out of 17 occasions +0.5 at Selhurst Park this term.

In their last 2 outings at home, they suffered back to back 2-0 defeats against West Brom who were on a run of 3 straight defeats and to a struggling Hull side. Alan Pardew has got them out of trouble but they are still relying to heavily on their away form, picking up 6 more points on the road than they have done at Selhurst Park.

Man Utd have the opposite problem, before their loss to West Brom last weekend, they had the best home form in the Premier League, their away form however, needs some improvement. They have won just 5 matches on the road this season, drawing 7, losing 5, picking up 22 points. If you compare this to the 3 other top 4 sides, Cheslea 38, Arsenal 33 and City 31, this is something LVG needs to focus on in the summer.

The Red Devils have a superb record against Palace though, not losing in their last 13 league meetings with the Eagles, winning 11. Palace have also failed to score in 8 of their last 10 meetings in all competitions against Utd and more significantly Utd have kept a clean sheet in each of their last 4 meetings at Selhurst Park.

I expect a close match between these two sides but Man Utd represent the value despite their poor away form. Their record against Palace is excellent and with the added bonus of being able to seal Liverpool’s fate this weekend, Utd can nick all 3 points here.
