Liverpool v PSG
Paris Saint-Germain are set to bag the Ligue 1 title once again this season since they clearly are the unyielding team in the division by quite some expanse from the others. They only became stronger ever since they lost the trophy to Monaco two seasons ago. Coming into the second to the last round of group fixtures in the Champions League Group C, Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool are currently the overpowering favourites for the top 2 positions.
Napoli are the one sitting at the top of the table after gathering 3 draws and an unexpected victory over Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp’s team are on level with the Italians, however, they will face quite a challenging trip to the French capital on Wednesday to face the Ligue 1 giants. PSG already have points and winning on Wednesday’s fixture could send them to the top of the tables. The Ligue 1 side were able to come out victorious in every one of the Ligue 1 fixtures, having scored a stunning 46 goals throughout.
Liverpool are currently dominating the Premier League. They remain undefeated so far this season despite many critics and fans believing they haven’t even reached the top of their game yet. Their remarkably impressive 0-3 away victory against Watford at the weekend saw their undefeated start extend to a thirteenth game, keeping them just two points away from the defending title holders Manchester City. They also managed to make it all the way to the Champions League finals last season.
PSG and Liverpool are two teams that are evenly matched; however, the French side have the advantage of playing at their home turf. With the attacking prowess of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Edinson Cavani threatening Liverpool’s back-line, they have been unstoppable this season and will certainly display some goal scoring action on Wednesday.

Tottenham v Inter Milan
Tottenham’s season has been quite a rollercoaster so far, both showing a display of poor and satisfactory performance. They lost 4-2 at home against Barcelona and were beaten away to Inter. Their draw in an away game against PSV is the awful result that left them on the brink of exiting the competition. However, they managed to win against London rivals Chelsea, 3-1, in the Premier League on Saturday which pushed them to third place in the table.
In the Champions League, things aren’t looking up for the Spurs too but they still have a chance to improve. Despite their mixed performances, they still have a chance in coming out successful in their match against Inter Milan. They managed to win their previous five league fixtures, and they will be facing a side who were thrashed in a 4-1 away game against Atlanta. However, the Spurs desperately need to win on Wednesday in order to stay in the competition.
On the other hand, Inter Milan have fallen on some challenging times over the last several years but they are slowly coming back to their winning glory and the fact that they were successful in bagging the victory in 11 of their 17 matches this season is a proof of that. They only failed to score a total of three times this season, and this came from the opening month of this campaign. In the Champions League, they managed to concede 9 goals in 4 games, also failing to keep a clean sheet in any of those.
The two sides met a total of five times in UEFA competitions with Tottenham winning two games and Inter with three. Their most recent head-to-head came during this season’s group stage fixtures with the Italian outfit claiming a late 2-1 comeback win in early September. Wednesday will be a win or bust for the Spurs as Mauricio Pochettino’s team must dominate Wembley Stadium to stay in the league.

Atletico Madrid v Monaco
Atletico Madrid will host Monaco for their Champions League Group A meeting on Wednesday, looking forward for a head-to-head with Borussia Dortmund at the top of the league table. They currently sit just below their German rivals only on a goal difference after playing four fixtures and encountering a 2-0 defeat in Dortmund in early November. They are still in a very strong position to qualify, having a 5-point bolster ahead 3rd placed Club Brugge.
Monaco have been a real surprise in the Group A though, winning against PSG to win the Ligue 1 title back in the 2016-17 season as well as making quite a performance during the latter periods of the Champions League. The Ligue 1 side, currently managed by the legendary Theirry Henry, sit at the bottom of the Group A standings with just one point to their name. The more worrying fact though is that they are still in the relegation zone in the Ligue 1.
Though Monaco managed to bag a victory during the weekend, they failed to win 16 of their league fixtures. Their survival in the Ligue 1 could be their focus as of now and it should be expected that Wednesday’s match isn’t really a priority for them.
On the other hand, Atletico Madrid haven’t been in their usual form either, losing two times this season which included a 4-0 thrashing against Dortmund in October. They managed to keep one clean sheet throughout their four Champions League fixtures so far and in 4 of their previous 10 competitions. However, the Spanish side will come into their match against Monaco fresh from a 1-1 draw against Barcelona. This match will be the two sides’ second head-to-head encounter ever, following Atletico Madrid’s 1-2 win in Monaco last September.
