Aston Villa v Manchester United Asian Handicap Preview – Friday 14th August

Aston Villa v Man Utd – Villa Park at 19:45 live on Sky Sports 1

Aston Villa host Man Utd at Villa Park tomorrow night in the Premier League’s first Friday night kick off of the season.

Both sides won their opening match last Saturday, Utd with a 1-0 home win over Spurs, thanks to Kyle Walker and Villa a 1-0 win over newly promoted Bournemouth at Dean Park.

It was also a good day for myself, picking up two wins from two selections on the opening day of the EPL, recommending Villa -0.5 on the Asian Handicap betting market and Utd to cover -0.5 in the first half.

The Villains went into their match against Bournemouth as underdogs and will do tomorrow at 6.25. The Cherries outplayed Villa at times and were unlucky to come away with nothing on their Premier League debut. Sherwood however, will be delighted with the 3 points but knows they will need to improve in order to defeat Utd even with home advantage.

You have to go back 20 years the last time Villa recorded a win in this fixture, defeating the Red Devil’s 3-1 which led to the now infamous quote ‘you can’t win anything with kids’.

Arguably, Man Utd were also lucky to come away with all 3 points against Spurs last weekend, with Tottenham having more clear cut chances. Utd started slowly, but after Walker’s own goal, Spurs’ heads dropped and Utd picked up the pace. The 3 points will have delighted LVG having lost on the opening day of last season.

One area in which LVG knows he needs to improve on is their away form. They relied heavily on picking points up at Old Trafford last year (63%) and scored 66% of their goals on home soil, winning just 6 from 19 on the road.

Villa only won 5 matches at home last term, but 3 of those 5 wins came in their last 4 matches of the season. They also started well, winning 3 of their opening 4 before losing 6 in a row, Sherwood will be looking for more consistency, something which he has improved since taking over from Paul Lambert.

With history on their side and a far better team, Utd are rightfully favourites and are priced at very reasonable 1.72. I’m confident of an away win and think Utd can create a lot of chances tomorrow night so I’m recommending to back them -1 on the Asian Handicap betting market at a juicy 2.22

Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: Man Utd -1 @ 2.22
