Arsenal v Tottenham – Emirates Stadium at 14:15 GMT

Arsenal will host Tottenham Hotspur for what is the most anticipated North London derby on Sunday at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners definitely bloomed under new coach Unai Emery, currently sitting on the fifth placed in the Premier League table. They are now unbeaten in 17 of their matches since losing to Chelsea and have scored at least two times in almost all of their Premier League fixtures this season. A top four finish is certainly within their grasp especially if they manage to come out victorious on Sunday and their future league fixtures.

On the other hand, Tottenham Hotspur came out as the comfortable winners of a 3-0 match last weekend, giving Maurizio Sarri his first league defeat as Chelsea’s manager. With Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli all in remarkably stunning form, Arsenal will have to watch out. The Spurs will be coming into Sunday’s North London derby off the back of succeeding in seven of their previous eight league matches. This season has been of the best for the Spurs, starting an impressive campaign with a series of victory and they now currently sit on the top four of the Premier League table.

Both these teams’ campaigns have not always gone smoothly, but their recent performances suggest both of them are back to their best form. Tottenham might have the edge for this match but Arsenal could possibly prove them wrong as shown in their recent performances. Sunday’s match will surely be one of the most anticipating head-to-head clashes for this season’s Premier League.

–          Coach Unai Emery currently has six players that are injured along with three long term absentees.

–          Stephan Lichtsteiner is doubtful to play on Sunday’s match against the Spurs due to a hamstring injury.

–          Arsenal’s Nacho Monreal, Konstantinos Mavropanos, Laurent Koscielny and Danny Welbeck are all out of the game due to hamstring, groin, Achilles and ankle injuries respectively.

–          Spurs’ Jan Vertonghen came back at the weekend after two months of being sidelined and might be one of the players to start the game.

–          Mousa Dembele remains unavailable due to an ankle problem and won’t return until after the New Year’s.

Just this season, he showed one of the best midfield displays in the league as Arsenal dominated Leicester City to bag their 10th consecutive victory in all competitions.

Harry Kane plays as a striker for the Spurs and is currently the captain of the English national football team. In the 2017-18 season, he made history for being Europe’s top goal scorer as Tottenham Hotspur secured a spot in the top four finish by the end of the competition. Arsenal v Tottenham: 1-2

One of Arsenal’s main problems in this season is their line of defence, mainly when being counter-attacked by their opponents. It has been a problem for Unai Emery so far and it still hasn’t been address properly. Tottenham might take great advantage of that considering they have several known great strikers in their turf. Although the improvements made under their new boss is there for everyone to see and the future looks bright again for  Arsenal, there is still a lingering question on whether they can come up against elite-level rivals like the Spurs.
