Tottenham v Manchester United Asian Handicap Preview – Wednesday 31st January

Tottenham v Manchester United – Wembley Stadium at 20:00

Tottenham Hotspur welcomes Manchester United to Wembley on Wednesday evening with their FA Cup woes fresh in their mind. It took a late Harry Kane equaliser to save Spurs’ blushes against League Two Newport County. Spurs were lacklustre against their FA Cup opponent and Pochettino will be hoping they put that behind them here.

Alexis to become the main man?

Much of the attention will be on Alexis Sanchez, who could be in line to make his first league start for United after signing from Arsenal this window. He started in the FA Cup over the weekend against Yeovil and United fans will be pleased with what they saw, but it’s games like this that they’ll really want him to step up.

Alexis is a big game player, there’s no doubt about that, and I’d expect Jose Mourinho to keep the faith with him for this one.

Spurs need to step it up if they’re to regain top four status

It’s not been the season that Mauricio Pochettino would’ve hoped for. They are only two points outside of the top four at present, but the Argentine would’ve hoped to have been closer to a title challenge than he is.

With a lacklustre draw against Newport County following a poor draw against Southampton, a win at home against United would send a positive message from the Spurs camp. They need to step up their game if they want to regain top four status this season and with boss Pochettino flirting with Real Madrid, winning these types of games will be important to keep their highly-rated boss beyond this season.

Mourinho’s men

Jose Mourinho signed a new deal with Manchester United this week and with the club backing him in the transfer window, it will be exciting for Manchester United fans to see what the former Chelsea boss can do with their club.

Mourinho is certainly one of the best managers in the world, with success achieved all across the continent, and he relishes games like this. This is well and truly Mourinho’s team and expects a classic Mourinho performance at Wembley on Wednesday night.
