Tottenham v Everton Asian Handicap Betting Preview – Saturday 29th August

Tottenham v Everton – White Hart Lane at 17:30 live on Sky Sports 1

Tottenham Hotspur host Everton in Saturday’s Premier League evening fixture still searching for their first win of the season.

Everton make the trip to north London with 4 points from their opening 3 matches and will look to get back to winning ways after last week’s 2-0 defeat to Man City.

Mauricio Pochettino has had a frustrating start to the season, firstly seeing his side lose at Old Trafford, which isn’t the worst of results, but if it wasn’t for a few mistakes they could have come away with a point.

That was followed up with a 2-2 draw at home to Stoke and a 1-1 draw away to Leicester. In both matches, Spurs took the lead and again if it wasn’t for their own mistakes, they could have had 6 points on the board.

Pochettino had a clear out in the summer and brought in a few players to strengthen up his defence, they are however still making errors at the back and they are in need of some new attacking options. A top 4 finish looks to be a million miles away at the moment.

The home side go into the match as 1.93 favourites which is a ridiculously short price looking at their first 3 matches. It does however give us some value on Everton on the Asian Handicap betting market.

John Stones has been stealing the headlines all week after handing in a transfer request and allegedly crying at a petrol station after the midweek League Cup win over Barnsley.

Roberto Martinez will be quietly confident that his side are heading in the right direction, despite a mixed bag of results so far.

He would have been disappointed with the draw with Watford on the opening day of the season, but bounced back, thrashing Southampton at St Mary’s 3-0. That was followed by a 2-0 defeat to Man City but there were positives to be taken from the match.

On paper, Tottenham will look at this match as one they can win, especially at the Lane. They defeated the Toffee’s both home and away last year and finished several places higher than them in the league.

This is a new season though and Everton looked to have improved and Spurs haven’t looked comfortable.

I think both teams will score and it could well end in a draw but Everton have been underestimated at 4.75. The value lies in backing the Toffee’s +0.5 on the Asian Handicap betting market, meaning you will profit if they avoid defeat.

Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: Everton +0.5 at 2.00
