Tottenham Hotspur v Newcastle Utd – Betting Review

White Hart Lane – Wednesday 17th December at 19:45

Newcastle head back to North London after losing to Arsenal 4-1 in the league on Saturday, to face Tottenham in the League Cup Quarter Final. This is a big game for both teams as it could provide the best chance of silverware for each side. Tottenham’s last trophy came 7 years ago in this competition whilst Newcastle haven’t won a domestic cup since 1955.

Tottenham have improved recently having only lost once in 7. They’ve picked up 10 points their last 5 games which has included 3 wins. Those 3 wins though were all narrow 2-1 victories, 2 of those coming from last minute winners. Mauricio Pochettino would love to win a trophy in his first season in charge and will be boosted by their recent form. Emmanuel Adebayor is back from Ghana but will not feature due to lack of match fitness but Pochettino has no other new injury concerns since their win over Swansea.

Newcastle have only lost 2 in their last 11 which has seen them win 7 times, including league wins over Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham. The Magpies put in a fantastic performance when beating Man City in the last round 2-0 and will be hoping for a similar display tonight. Newcastle’s injury list is still quite long, but welcome back Steven Taylor and Moussa Sissoko after suspensions.

The Magpies have won their last 2 at White Hart Lane but Spurs have improved since their 2-1 defeat in October. This is going to be a tight match. Looking for some value, Newcastle are priced up at a tempting 4.8 and are shortening. My advised trade however, is Newcastle +0.5 @ 2.12, giving you a pay out if they win or it goes to extra time.
