Tottenham Hotspur v Manchester City Asian Handicap Betting Preview – Sunday 3rd May

Tottenham v Manchester City – White Hart Lane at 16:00 live on Sky Sports 1

Sharp Asian handicap betting experts have been enjoying making a solid profit from both these teams this season and will be looking for more of the same as they meet at White Hart Lane today. Matches between Spurs and City are usually entertaining, competitive and high scoring affairs but will their lack of anything really tangible to play for impact the spectacle this afternoon?

At the turn of the year Tottenham pulled their usual trick of playing like world beaters one week, only to undo all their good work by losing the following week. A pulsating performance in front of their own fans saw Mauricio Pochettino’s team overwhelm Chelsea 5-3 in what looked like a real statement of intent.

However, yet again they were unable to build any momentum as they lost at Crystal Palace in the very next match. Even a confidence boosting win in the North London Derby a few weeks later could not kick start a sustained challenge for a top four finish.

Defeats and dropped points against Liverpool, West Ham, Manchester United, Burnley, Aston Villa and Southampton since then have left Spurs with the unappetising prospect of another season in the Europa League competition. Perhaps they would be better off focussing their efforts on winning it next season and gaining Champions League qualification via that route instead?

Manchester City have steadily faded away in their defence of the Premier League crown, despite a strong spell at the end of 2014, Manuel Pellegrini’s squad seems in desperate need of new blood. With four defeats in their last eight league games, the pressure is very much on as many of the playing and coaching staff are in danger of losing their jobs this summer.

Young Player of the Year Harry Kane has been a revelation up front for Spurs but his team mates have been frustratingly inconsistent, the likes of Nacer Chadli and Christian Eriksen have had patches of excellent form but Pochettino needs much more from them to break into the top four. Kyle Walker is still out injured and his presence on the right has been missed this season.

Manchester City have now lost four away games in a row but, Pellegrini will be expecting a much improved performance and result today with Arsenal breathing hard down their necks for second place behind Chelsea.

The Chilean has a number of injury concerns to deal with as Vincent Kompany, Yaya Toure and Gael Clichy are all expected to miss this afternoon’s match and Samir Nasri is also doubtful. Having failed to recruit the top class talent that the squad needed, Pellegrini needs somebody to step up to the plate for his team today.

As mentioned this match has produced plenty of goals in recent season but unfortunately for Spurs they have been on the receiving end more often than not, with the last three gaems ending in 4-1, 5-1 and 6-0 defeats, but with the Citizens playing below par at the moment they will be keen to redress the balance today.

The main Asian handicap betting line is today set at 0.25 and due to their poor away form and missing players, the champions seem to have a little bit of value in the markets according to our tissue price but can we back them to win?

Spurs have only one win in their last four and that came against the woeful Newcastle United, while City have won two in a row and hold that impressive recent record over Spurs but with a -0.25 handicap it’s hard to make a case for them winning today after four successive losses on the road.

Instead we will look at the Asian handicap goals market because this match has produced a serious amount of goals of late. In all but one of the last seven league meetings between the two, fans have been treated to at least four goals and with thirty five scored in total, the fixture has seen an average of five goals per game over the last four seasons.

With Harry Kane and Sergio Aguero battling it out for Premier League top scorer honours, we are happy to take over three goals at a shade under even money and sit back to enjoy the match.

Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: Over 3 Goals at 1.96
