Swansea host West Ham this Sunday afternoon at the Liberty Stadium still without a manager after chairman Huw Jenkins relieved Garry Monk of his duties just over a week ago.
Alan Curtis will take the reigns once again but there has been plenty of talk surrounding the possible appointment of Marcelo Bielsa, with the Argentinian now odds on to become the Swans next full time manager.
Curtis and his players were unlucky last weekend not to come away from the Etihad with anything. They had a disallowed goal before Gomis equalised late on, only for City to snatch a lucky winner in injury time.
It was a spirited display from Swansea that suggests they have what it takes to turn their so far poor season around. However, the 2.10 for a home win is too short and I believe they need to appoint a full time manager for things to settle before they turn a corner.
West Ham sit comfortably in mid-table, but it was their early season form, particularly on the road, that see’s them still in the top half. There is no crisis at West Ham but a run of six games without a win may start to cause some concern if 3 points aren’t picked up soon.
They have W2-D6-L2 of their last 10 league games and are becoming draw specialists. The Hammers have been plagued by injuries in recent weeks with key players such as Moses, Sakho and Payet all still out, making their 4 draws from their last 6 against some tough sides pretty decent results.
I’m surprised to see Swansea price as short as they are based on West Ham’s performances. They are the top half team and Bilic has found a way of getting something out of difficult matches. The 3.90 on an away win holds some value but it’s not something I’ll be rushing to back. It does however give us a great bet on the Asian Handicap betting market.
A tight match is expected, but I think West Ham have the edge making the 1.85 on +0.5 and 2.17 on +0.25 very appealing.
