Swansea City V Tottenham Hotspur – Betting Preview

Liberty Stadium – Sunday 14th December at 16.00 on Sky Sports 1

Swansea City are having a really solid season under Gary Monk and with so many of the traditional big teams struggling to find their best form, a side like the Swans are ready, willing and able to take full advantage.

They suffered a 3-1 defeat last time out, away at the hugely impressive West Ham side that are currently in possession of the coveted 4th place in the league. However, Monk’s team have been equally impressive when playing at home in the Liberty Stadium. The only team to beat them in Swansea so far is Southampton and even Arsenal left Wales with their tails between their legs, after a 2-1 defeat last month.

Tottenham will arrive in South Wales after returning from another Europa League trip on Thursday night, which didn’t go to plan as they lost in Besiktas and in the process lost top spot in the group. That defeat could prove costly, as they will probably get a harder opponent in the next round but more importantly at the moment, Spurs need to get back to winning ways in the Premier League this weekend.

Mauricio Pochettino has had to battle through a largely disappointing and inconsistent start to his tenure as Spurs manager. But, they have actually done better away from home than at White Hart Lane with only Chelsea and Manchester City managing to claim all three points at home against them.

Another point in Spurs favour is that they are yet to lose against Swansea since they won promotion to the Premier League three seasons ago. In fact, Spurs have won five of the six games between the two, scoring 11 and conceding just 4.

This should be a tight match but having played and lost against Besiktas in midweek, it is a big ask for the North London side to win in the Liberty Stadium against Swansea. The advised trade is to back Swansea at 2.55.
