Sunderland v Liverpool Asian Handicap Betting Preview – Wednesday 30th December by @SC457

Sunderland v Liverpool – Stadium of Light at 19:45 live on Sky Sports 1

Wednesday night see’s the last Premier League match of 2015 as Sunderland host Liverpool at the Stadium of Light.

It’s not been a great start to the season for the Mackems. They currently sit in 19th place, 7 points from safety and Sam Allardyce really does have a mountain to climb if he is to steer the Black Cats to safety.

Sunderland were dealt a cruel run of fixtures throughout December, including away matches against Man City, Chelsea and Arsenal, all of which they lost, convincingly. It doesn’t get much easier tomorrow night as they face a Liverpool side who beat league leaders Leicester on Boxing Day and have looked good away from home under Jurgen Klopp until defeats to Newcastle and Watford.

One positive the Wearsiders can take out of their recent away defeats is that they did manage to get on the score sheet in each match. However, their last match at home was a 1-0 defeat to Watford but I think they are capable of breaking down the Liverpool defence.

The Reds ended their 3 match winless run in a surprising 1-0 win over Leicester. It was the first time this season the Foxes failed to scored but Vardy and Mahrez were substituted in the second half.

Prior to there Boxing Day clean sheet, Liverpool had conceded 7 in their last 3 league matches and will be hoping to avoid a 3rd successive away defeat.

They are 1.76 favourites to pick up all 3 points and are the value to do so, however that price is a bit short for me to recommend. Looking at the Asian Handicap betting market, with the line of +/-0.75, it is hard to fancy either side. Sunderland have only been beaten by 2 or more at home once this season but have lost half of their 8 matches at the Stadium of Light.

Liverpool have only won 2 of their 9 matches by 2 goals or more this season, making it hard to recommend either side without a strong possibility of a half loss or half win. Instead I’m turning my attentions to the goals markets.

Three of the Black Cats last four matches have all seen 3 goals or more as have 3 out of 4 Liverpool’s most recent road matches. Over 2.5 goals is priced at a tempting 2.01 and is my recommendation.

Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: Over 2.5 goals at 2.01

Prices correct at time of writing.
