Sevilla v Fiorentina – Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium at 20:05 live on ITV4
Sevilla continue the defence of their Europa League title against Fiorentina in the 1st leg of the semi final at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium this evening. The Andalusian’s have a real love affair with the competition, aiming to win the trophy for the fourth time in 10 years. Asian Handicap betting punters will be aware of the success we’ve had backing the Spanish side in this years Europa League, most recently picking up winners in both legs of their quarter final against Zenit.
Sevilla are 5th in La Liga after a good season domestically and are in with a chance of qualifying for next years Champions League by finishing in the top 4. They are 3 points behind Valenica with 3 to play so will need Los Che to slip up, but with a UCL place awarded to the winners of the Europa League, this will be another incentive for Unai Emery to secure another European Trophy for his side.
Los Rojiblancos lost their 34 match unbeaten home record at the weekend with a 3-2 defeat to Real Madrid but they should have come away with a point and were every bit as good as the current Champions League holders. Prior to the weekend’s loss, Sevilla had won 11, drawn 4 of their last 15 matches at home, including 6 wins in a row in the Europa League, holding a 100% record in this years competition.
They face a Fiorentina who haven’t been at their best domestically of late. After a great start to 2015, losing just twice in 19 matches, they were knocked out of the semi finals of the Coppa Italia by Juve which was followed by 4 Serie A defeats on the bounce. This run of form has left them with virtually no chance of qualifying for next seasons UCL through the league so will be pinning all their hopes on winning the Europa League.
La Viola’s European form hasn’t been affected by whats happening domestically however, as they have produced some of their best football in this seasons competition. Fiorentina have lost just 1 of their 12 matches this campaign and have scored in every match as manager, Vincenzo Montella continues to play attacking football. They have also kept clean sheets in 6 of their 12 matches.
They have faced and defeated, Tottenham, Roma and Dynamo Kiev in the 3 knockout stages so far and will be going all out to bring back an advantage to Florence next week. Montella has taken his whole squad to Sevilla, including ineligible players in a bid to keep the unity within his team at a crucial time of the season.
Despite Fiorentina’s European form, Sevilla are the good bet here and represent value on the Asian Handicap market -0.5 at 1.83. There is also some value backing both teams to score at 1.85 and I like the 1.95 on offer for Over 2.5 goals. My recommendation will be with a home win and for Sevilla to justify there 1.73 to make it to the final by taking a lead into the second leg.
Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: Sevilla -0.5 @ 1.83
