United and Liverpool look most likely to spend big late on – Friday 22nd January by @SocanalysisHQ

United and Liverpool look most likely to spend big late on

There have been few deals that have sparked excitement so far in this transfer window, but expect things to hot up in the final week and attacking players remain on the agenda.

Manchester United look the most likely of all the top sides to make a mega money move. Whether or not a deal ultimately materialises, United are determined to move for an attacking player in this window. Lazio winger Felipe Anderson has been heavily linked, but Lazio are demanding a huge fee for a player who is talented, but still relatively unproven and can be very sporadic. That deal may ultimately come off but Louis Van Gaal also wants a centre forward. There is a strong possibility that Edinson Cavani will be on his way to Old Trafford by this summer. PSG manager Laurent Blanc has intimated that Cavani will be allowed to leave and United are big admirers. PSG may not sanction a deal in this window but don’t be surprised if United still go in with a big offer for Cavani. Benfica’s talented, 18-year-old box-to-box midfielder Renato Sanches is also a player United are very keen on. Sanches is quick, strong and versatile and has enormous potential. Again, it remains to be seen if a deal is finalised in this window but United are eager to do business.

Arsenal have signed Egyptian midfield player, Mohamed El Nenny and its unlikely that Arsene Wenger will do any further business on the first team front. Wenger has suggested that several of his squad will be returning from injury very soon and would much prefer their return than bringing in “unnecessary” reinforcements.

Tottenham’s move for Saido Berahino has been cast into doubt with his publicised lack of discipline and unprofessionalism not going down well at White Hart Lane. That deal is not dead though, but suggestions of a move for Atletico Madrid forward Jackson Martinez seem way off the mark. Martinez is 30 this year and after the Soldado debacle, Daniel Levy won’t move for another centre forward from La Liga with little resale value. Levy always does his business late though and expect Berahino or another centre forward at White Hart Lane on February 1улица.

Liverpool are clearly in the market for an attacking player and Jurgen Klopp is looking to steal in on Chelsea’s interest in Shakhtar Donetsk attacker, Alex Teixeira. Teixeira is more of an attacking midfield player, but with fellow Brazilians Roberto Firminio and Philippe Coutinho at the club, Klopp may be considering employing Teixeira in a striking role. Liverpool are keen to get business done and along with Manchester United, look the most likely to spend big as the transfer window closes.

Chelsea have also been in the market for a forward player and with Liverpool seemingly more keen on getting a deal done for Alex Teixeira, it looks like Alexandre Pato could be on his way to Stamford Bridge in a deal valued at around £12m. Pato has tremendous ability and although he has failed to live up to his potential yet, at still only 26, ‘the duck’ as he is nicknamed can still fulfil his scope.

Manchester City have been quiet and unless something major happens, are likely to remain so. Manuel Pellegrini has the best squad in the Premier League and has few serious injuries to be contend with. Exciting, young Schalke attacker Leroy Sane is very much on City’s radar but don’t expect anything to happen on that front till the summer.
