Tottenham v Liverpool Asian Handicap Betting Preview – Saturday 17th October by @SC457

Tottenham v Liverpool – White Hart Lane at 12:45 live on BT Sport 1

Saturday lunchtime see’s the Premier League fixture of the weekend as Tottenham host Liverpool at White Hart Lane. This was already the standout match of week 9 but there is added excitement now that Jurgen Klopp is in charge of the Reds.

The charismatic German impressed in his first press conference but now’s the time to let his results do the talking and challenge for a top 4 spot, which surely is his aim for the rest of the season. He’s only had a week with his players and it’s a tough start to his tenure, facing a Spurs side who are the only team not to have lost since the opening day of the campaign.

Klopp also has various selection problems with Danny Ings and Joe Gomez out for the rest of the season with cruciate ligament injuries sustained this week and Benteke, Firmino and Henderson already sidelined. Lovren and Coutinho are also doubtful, leaving the new gaffer short of options.

Spurs themselves have some injury concerns with Son Heung-min, Ryan Mason and Nabil Bentaleb all out and Eric Dier is suspended. Pochettino will be confident coming into this match though, putting together a decent run of results before the international break, including wins over Palace and a very impressive 4-1 defeat of Man City.

It was a bit of a slow start for the North Londoners, not registering a win in their opening 4 league matches. They now seem to have settled though and are playing some really nice football and as well as scoring fairly freely, they have the leagues tightest defence, conceding just 6 times in 8.

Tottenham have not beaten the Reds since November 2012 but will feel confident they can beat a Liverpool side who have conceded 10 goals in their last 5 premier league matches. The Reds have also only managed 8 goals in 8 games and with Ings and Benteke out, the recently fit Daniel Sturridge will be under pressure to start banging them in.

Liverpool have won their last 5 league matches against Spurs and although underdogs, the market hasn’t moved as much as I would have expected since Klopp’s appointment.

Tottenham are on form but the new manager effect can’t be dismissed. Liverpool look to be the value on the Asian Handicap betting market +0.25 at 1.83. I also think the Over 2.5 goals represents some value at 1.87 which, for me is a more favourable bet.

Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: Liverpool +0.25 at 1.83
