Tottenham v Sunderland Asian Handicap Preview – Sunday 18th September by @DarkDyson

Tottenham v Sunderland – White Hart Lane at 16:30 live on Sky Sports 1

I landed a nice odds against Asian Handicap total goals winner on Wednesday, with Spurs defeat in the Champions League.

This weekend I am looking for more value betting options on Spurs, when Mauricio Pochettino’s team host Sunderland on Sunday.

The North London club are looking to bounce back after that loss and facing Sunderland could be the ideal opportunity.

David Moyes took on a huge challenge when he agreed to become the Black Cats new manager this past summer.

After four league games with just one point, the pressure is already on Moyes to turn his team’s fortunes around.

Tottenham

As mentioned in my midweek preview, Spurs have not had the most impressive start to this season, despite being undefeated.

Harry Kane is still lacking sharpness in front of goal and Erik Lamela is another player looking short on confidence.

Danny Rose is injured and Pochettino does rest players after European games, so other players will come in on Sunday.

The betting markets have Spurs priced up as 1.31 heavy favourites to beat Sunderland, who are priced at 10.00.

When priced as heavy home favourites in the past three seasons, Tottenham have a record of P15 W11 D1 L3.

However, their average goals per game over those 15 matches is just 1.86 and they have scored just 1 goal in 4 of their 5 matches so far this season.

Also, they only managed to fully cover their Asian Handicap line in 7 of those 15 games.

Sunderland

Three defeats and a draw, is not the start to his new career that David Moyes was hoping for.

Despite having capable defenders such as Patrick Van Aanholt and Lamine Kone, they have conceded 8 goals in 4 games.

Unfortunately, for Black Cat fans, they also concede two goals per game on average when facing Tottenham in the league.

After their meek capitulation in the second half against Everton last week, Moyes will make changes to the team.

A small ray of hope is that they have scored in five of the last six meetings between the two.

Sunderland on the road against heavy favourites in the last 3 years, have a poor record, P18 W3 D4 L11.

However, they only failed to score in 4 of 18 and they covered the Asian Handicap in 8 of 18.

Due to Sunderland scoring regularly in these matches against the top teams, all but five ended with Over 2.5 Goals.

Asian Handicap Conclusion

Sunderland are capable of scoring at White Hart Lane this week, especially with Spurs confidence knocked in midweek.

However, Spurs did start the game against Monaco very well and a return to White Hart Lane will help.

There is not much value in the main Asian Handicap markets for this game, but I have found an unusual angle that should land us another profit this week.

Tottenham have scored in second half of all four of their Premier League games so far this season.

While, three of Sunderland’s four games have seen two or more goals scored in the second half.

With a cautious start likely from both teams and a juicy price available on Over 1.5 second half goals, it is a solid recommendation for this match.

Another option here is to back the 2й half as the highest scoring half, which offers even more value.

Asian Handicap Recommendation: 2й Half – Over 1.5 Goals at 1.92 and Highest Scoring Half – 2й Half at 2.10
