Swansea v Leicester – Liberty Stadium at 16:00 live on Sky Sports 1
For my Asian Handicap preview this Sunday, my focus turns to the Liberty Stadium where Swansea host league champions Leicester. With both sides hovering precariously above the relegation zone, three points for either side could be vital in helping them remain in the Premier League.
It’s been a difficult season for the Swans and inconsistencies off the pitch can’t have helped. Three managers have been in charge since the start of the campaign, but the appointment of Paul Clement in January has had a positive effect on the pitch and results have improved.
Despite leaving the Etihad with nothing last week, Swansea did more than enough to earn a point out of the game. The much improved performance came on the back of two consecutive wins over Liverpool and Southampton which lifted them out the bottom three.
The result against City should knock their confidence too much and affect their upward momentum. They don’t however have a great record against Leicester.
From their last 12 meetings in all competitions, Swansea have one just 3 times, with the Foxes winning 9.
They first met in the Premier League in 2014, which the Swans won, however, they have lost the last 4, scoring just once, conceding eleven times.
Things are going from bad to worse for Leicester. They are without a win in 2017, picking up just one point from a possible 15.
A run of 4 consecutive league defeats has seen them drop to 16th place just one point above Hull City in 18th. The possibility of being relegation as current champions is very real.
The Foxes haven’t scored a single goal this year, in 5 matches, and have conceded ten in their last 4 league outings.
Leicester have also been unable to register a single win on the road in the Premier League this campaign either and have claimed just 3 points from 12 road matches this term. It’s looking bleak.
Although history is on the visitors side, current form is not.
Since the appointment of Paul Clement, there has been a huge improvement from the Swans and the mood in the camp looks positive.
Both sides should be playing for the win here which means we could see quite an entertaining, open game. However, with Leicester’s current lack of potency in attack, I’m staying away from the goals market.
With form on their side, I’m siding with the hosts, who offer some value on the Asian Handicap market.
Asian Handicap Recommendation: Swansea -0.25 at 2.03
