I don’t often write up Asian Handicap previews for games involving my team, Manchester United. We are very rarely good value to back and I could not be cheering on the opponents, even if it resulted in a winning bet.
However, here I am writing about Manchester United’s trip to play St. Etienne in the 2й leg of their Europa League tie.
St. Etienne…
The French side are all but out of the competition having been beaten handily 3-0 at Old Trafford last week.
However, with the visitor’s up-coming trip to Wembley for the EFL Cup Final on Sunday, this could be a good time to face them.
The Greens have a solid record at home in Ligue 1 this season of, P13 W7 D5 L1 with GF18 and GA6. Plus, in the group phase of the competition they topped the Group C without losing a single match.
Although, it is still highly unlikely that they can comeback from 3-0 down against United, they should be capable of causing their guests a few more problems than they did in the away match.
Nice are the only side to win at St. Etienne in the French league this season and even high scoring Monaco only managed a single goal on their visit.
Thanks to their stout defence, just 31% of matches played at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard have seen Over 2.5 Goals.
Manchester United…
Jose Mourinho’s squad will be tested to the maximum over the remaining months of the season. The Red Devils are still fighting for honours in four competitions and with a comfy 3-0 lead in this tie.
With the EFL Cup Final on Sunday afternoon, it would be a surprise if Jose didn’t rotate his starting eleven. Although, he has taken a strong squad to France just in case they are needed.
United, somewhat surprisingly the 3й best away team in the Premier League, with a record of P13 W7 D3 L2.
However, in the Europa League they lost two of three away games in Group A, failing to score at Feyenoord.
With numerous changes expected the visitors, will still need to put in a solid performance to avoid a nervous night.
Asian Handicap Prices…
Manchester United come into the match as favourites, at 1.86 on the -0.25 Asian Handicap line. Meanwhile the Asian Total Goals line has been set at 2.25 and this is where I think we have the best opportunity to profit.
Taking into account reasons stated earlier and St. Etienne having little but pride to play for, goals don’t seem likely.
Half United’s group games ended with 2 or less goals, while four of St. Etienne’s ended with two or less.
Asian Handicap Recommendations: Under 2.25 Goals at 1.96
