Turkish Airlines Open Betting Preview – Thursday 29th October by @RobBanner_

Turkish Airlines Open – Maxx Royal Golf Course live on Sky Sports 4

This week the European Tour heads to Turkey for the third renewal of the Turkish Airlines Open and this year it’s the first leg of the European Tour’s final series. It is a no-cut event and the field consists of just 78 players. A total prize fund of $7,000,000 is up for grabs and I’m sure you won’t be surprised to hear that some big names are taking part. Rory McIlroy is playing a European Tour event for the first time since May and he’s the bookmaker’s favourite. The likes of Shane Lowry, Bernd Wiesberger, Danny Willett and Ian Poulter are also in the field this week and are amongst the favourites. A special mention also goes out to Matthew Fitzpatrick who appears to be a very promising prospect for us golf fans, the Englishman can be backed at 22/1 this week.

The Colin Montgomerie designed Maxx Royal Golf Course continues to host the Turkish Airlines Open after successful visits to the venue in 2013 and 2014. Talented American, Brooks Koepka shot 17 under par in this event last year on his way to his first European Tour victory. The year before that, Victor Dubuisson also went low but in soft conditions, shooting 24 under par throughout his four rounds, this indicating that aggressive play is advantageous. The course is a par 72 that consists of eight par 4’s and five par 3’s and par 5’s. Brooks Koepka played the par 5’s in ten under par last year and Dubuisson 14 under par in 2013, therefore taking advantage of these holes is absolutely imperative.

Danny Willett – Danny Willett has had an excellent season thus far, he’s won twice on the European Tour and also finished 3й in the WGC Cadillac Championship. These results have lifted Willett up to 26го in the world rankings and he’s also ranked 2й behind Rory McIlroy in the Race to Dubai. In this event last year, the Englishman finished in fourth position and we can expect similar conditions this time around. This result indicates that Willett can win around the Maxx Royal Golf Course and he’s more than capable of shooting the low scores likely to be required this week.

3.5pts each way @ 25/1

Byeong-hun An – The season may have been Byeong-hun An’s first on the European Tour, but he’s been incredibly impressive. The former US Amateur champion has recorded eleven top 25 finishes throughout the season and that includes a victory in the European Tours flagship event, the BMW PGA Championship, this indicating what a quality player he is. An has never played in the Turkish Airlines Open, but the course should suit his game. He’s an aggressive player who ranks well in par 5 performance and he proved at Wentworth that he can go low by shooting 21 under par.

1.25pts each way @ 70/1

Romain Wattel – He’s yet to win on the European Tour, but it’s only a matter of time before Romain Wattel records his first victory at this level. This has been Wattel’s fifth year on the European Tour and each year he’s proved he’s capable of winning. Admittedly, this season hasn’t be the Frenchman’s best, but he’s still recorded four top 10’s and has showed some promising signs in recent weeks. Wattel has finished 10го, 33й, 22й and 22й in four of his last five starts, which suggests his games in good shape, he’s simply failed to put four good rounds together. Finally, last year Romain tied for 11го in this event, therefore it’s a track he can certainly go well around.
