Toulouse v Bordeaux Asian Handicap Preview – Friday 15th September

Toulouse v Bordeaux – Stadium Municipal at 19:45 Live at BT Sport

Friday night’s action from France features the Derby de la Garonne as Toulouse welcome Bordeaux for a contest involving the two south-western sides from the country. Although the encounter lacks the intensity of many other derby dates, there’s still plenty riding on the game.

Bordeaux remains unbeaten in Ligue 1 action having recovered from the early season trauma of a Europa League exit by minnows Videoton. Three stalemates in their first five outings though suggests Les Girondins haven’t yet gotten over their draw bias from last season,

Jocelyn Gourvennec’s group were held to a share of the spoils on 14 occasions last season but they were mighty tough to defeat. Indeed, five of their nine losses arrived against the top-three whilst the visitors have lost only three of their past 25 matches, all against top-three outfits.

Even so, Bordeaux is at least attempting to collect maximum points more often. Brazilian forward Malcolm has impressed early on this season with Les Girondins scoring at least twice in all of their opening four fixtures until last weekend.

A goalless draw against a 10-man defensive showing from Lille last week ended the impressive run in front of goal although Nicolas de Preville made a reasonably positive impression on his debut and Jonathan Cafu caught the eye from the bench.

So with four of the past six meetings between Bordeaux and Toulouse topping two goals, I’m happy to count on a repeat here, knowing the guests will be keen to get forward. Seven of the visitors’ last 11 road trips have featured at least three goals with five of those outings surpassing the Over 3.5 Goals mark.

Toulouse will welcome a return home having collected victories in both of their previous Ligue 1 games this term whilst managing a sole point from nine on their travels. Even so, Pascal Dupraz’s team have notched four goals in those three away days and carry their own goalscoring threat.

New man Giannelli may drop out after an ineffectual performance at Troyes last time out but with Ola Toivonen and Alexis Blin pushing for starts, the hosts have options up top. Elsewhere, Jimmy Durmaz will be keen to get on the ball in the chief playmaking role.

The home side haven’t beaten a top-half team in their last 34 matches so don’t represent great value but they can certainly play their part in what should be an entertaining encounter. Toulouse has seen three of their five fixtures this term produce at least five goals whilst half of their home games against the top-half last term also rewarded Over 2.5 Goals backers.

Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: Over 2.5 Goals at 2.270
