Tottenham v Gent – Wembley Stadium at 20:05 live on BT Sport 2
My latest Азиатская фора preview takes us to Wembley, as Spurs host Gent in the 2nd leg of this Europa League knockout tie.
Spurs will have to overturn a 1-0 deficit from the 1st leg, if they want to progress in this competition.
Last weekend Spurs comfortably beat Fulham (3-0) to progress to the Quarter-Finals of the FA Cup.
The home side now take on Gent and they are as short as 1.31 to get the win, despite losing in Belgium last week.
Spurs have won 11 of their 17 European home games since 2013/14, although this game will be played at Wembley. They haven’t taken to life at this ground so far this season and have already lost there against Monaco and Bayer Leverkusen in the group stages of the Champions League.
They did manage to beat CSKA Moscow in their final group game however!
In the Premier League, Tottenham have dropped down to 3rd in the table and are now 10 points behind league leaders Chelsea. This was as a result of their 2-0 defeat away to Liverpool in their last league fixture.
At home, Spurs are a strong side however and they’ve won their last 10 games. Although Wembley isn’t quite White Hart Lane, I think Pochettino’s men will come away with a comfortable win.
Gent beat Spurs on home soil last week, courtesy of a goal scored by French attacker Jeremy Perbet.
Last weekend Gent drew 1-1 with Standard Liège in the Belgium First Division, but all in all, Gent aren’t enjoying the success of recent seasons.
Last year Gent finished 3rd in the league and they are currently down in 8th.
They are just 1 point off the play-off places however and can therefore break in to the top 6 and fight for the Championship, via the play-off system used in Belgium.
The Buffaloes’ group stage campaign was also a struggle, winning just 2 of their 6 matches, D2 L2.
They needed a last minute winner in their final group game to book their place in the last 32 and set up this tie with Tottenham.
Shakhtar managed to put 5 goals past Gent in the group stages and I’m expecting Spurs to score a few at Wembley.
The visitors have won just 1 of their 14 away games in the league and so they aren’t the best of travellers!
Asian Handicap Prices
Tottenham are the clear favourites to win this match and taking into account their strong home record, I’d back Spurs to win by a couple of goals.
Gent have a poor record on their travels and taking everything into consideration, I recommend backing Tottenham -1.5 on the Asian Handicap betting market at 2.01, which looks value.
Asian Handicap Recommendation: Tottenham -1.5 @ 2.01
