Torino v Juventus Asian Handicap Preview – 15th December Saturday

Torino v Juventus – Olimpico di Torino at 19:30 GMT live at Eleven Sports

Juventus sealed a 1-0 success over Inter Milan last Friday night to cement their eight-point advantage at the top of Serie A, and move 14 points clear over the third-placed Nerazzurri. It was not the champions’ most compelling performance with Cristiano Ronaldo largely neutralised, but the Old Lady found a way.

The Bianconeri have now returned 14 wins from 15 unbeaten league fixtures this term and are enjoying the best-ever start to a Serie A season. The only hiccup Max Allegri’s men encountered came in a 1-1 home draw with Genoa, and should Juve continue at their current pace, they’ll conclude the campaign with a barely-believable 108 points.

Serie A’s season-long record was set in 2013/14 by Antonio Conte’s Juventus as the Bianconeri registered 102 points. However, many Italian pundits are suggesting the current crop could break new water following their phenomenal beginning to 2018/19.

Minds focussed for Turin derby

Juventus had already confirmed their place in the Champions League knockout stages and were therefore able to rest and rotate their strong squad against Young Boys in midweek, putting all their emphasis on claiming maximum points against their city rivals Turin on Saturday night.

The Old Lady are currently dominating Serie A’s performance data rankings – as we’d expect – registering ratio returns from 75% and up and those impressive efforts should ensure the defending champions continue their winning streak. So much so, backing Juventus with a -0.75 Азиатская фора appeals here at 1.77.

The visitors have won 55/83 (66%) away trips under Allegri’s watch in league football, 33 (40%) of which were achieved by a margin of two goals or more. The guests have already turned over AC Milan in the San Siro this season, and have won eight of their last nine visits to Torino since 2002.

Inconsistent Torino

Walter Mazzarri’s men find themselves perched as high as sixth in the Serie A standings despite tabling back-to-back league victories just once this term. Il Toro have been beaten in all three home outings against top-half teams, as Parma, Napoli and Roma have all left the Stadio Olimpico with three points.

In fact, since the start of 2015/16, Torino have been beaten in 12/20 (60%) of their home meetings with top-six teams in domestic duty. The Granata kept their sheets clean just once in that sample and are unlikely to be able to match their near neighbours in Saturday night’s eagerly anticipated encounter.
