Tottenham v Middlesbrough – White Hart Lane at 17:30 live on BT Sport 1
Middlesbrough make the trip to North London this Saturday evening to face Tottenham at White Hart Lane. Both sides come in to the match on the back of a midweek draw but Boro would have been more happy with their point than Spurs. I expect the hosts to take 3 points from this one and they look good value on the Asian Handicap market.
Maricio Pochettino will be keen to forget his sides midweek goalless draw with Sunderland. The result was disappointing, however, the point was enough to see them leapfrog Arsenal into second place, after the Gunners lost at home to Watford.
Spurs have had some injury problems of late and the question remains if they have the strength in depth to really challenge for the title. But, to be in second at this stage of the season, albeit 9 points behind the leaders, is a good place to be.
The hosts are now without a win in two league games, but the draw in midweek extended their unbeaten run to 10 matches in all competitions, 8 in the Premier League.
The Lilywhites remain unbeaten in 11 league matches at White Hart Lane this season, scoring in every game.
Tottenham have won their last 6 at home in the EPL, scoring 19 times, conceding just 3.
Boro have now gone 6 league games without a win and have just one victory in their last 9 outings. As a result they sit down in 15th place and look set for a hard fought battle against relegation. They are currently just 2 points above the drop zone.
The Teesider’s have drawn 3 of their last 4 Premier League matches, but manager Aitor Karanka would have expected to have picked up at least one win against Leicester, Watford, West Ham or West Brom.
Karanka seem’s to be feeling the pressure which is evident when watching him with the media and his position could have been more under threat after publicly criticising the lack of transfer activity during the transfer window, even though they ended up signing 3 players.
Rudy Gestede, Patrick Bamford and Adlene Guedioura will be welcome additions to the squad, especially at a time when Karanka is without a number of players due to injury.
Boro continue to struggle in front of goal, and are the divisions lowest scorers with just 19 goals. Their defence is their strength. Amazingly, only 5 teams have conceded fewer in the league.
Tottenham come into the match as 1.29 favourties which is justified when looking at their record at the lane. Unbeaten in 11 this season and only Liverpool and Leicester have held them to a draw.
Five of their 9 home wins have been by 2 goals or more and seven have been won to nil.
Middlesbrough don’t pose much of a threat in attack but could make it difficult for Spurs. I don’t expect the hosts to run away with it, but they offer some value to win by two or more.
Азиатская фора Recommendation: Tottenham -1.5 at 1.87 & Tottenham to Win to Nil at 1.91
