The Greenbrier Classic – Old White TPC at 21:00 live on Sky Sports 4
On Thursday, the Greenbrier Classic gets underway and the field is a weak one, but it should be an excellent event from a betting perspective. Since the Greenbrier Classic’s inception on the PGA Tour in 2010, it has seen some big priced winners, such as Scott Stallings, Ted Potter, Jr, Jonas Blixt and last year’s winner, Angel Cabrera. It certainly wouldn’t be a surprise to see another three figure priced winner lifting the trophy on Sunday evening.
Located in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, the Old White TPC, which opened in 1914 hosts the Greenbrier Classic as it has done since 2010. The course is a par 70 that plays to a yardage of 7,287 yards and the fairways are of generous width, consequently accuracy carries little importance. As a par 70, this golf course features twelve par 4’s, which is more than the average PGA Tour venue, therefore, par 4 performance is crucial. The greens consist of challenging undulations and the course tends to play firm and fast, thus favouring the best scramblers and putters, however rain is forecast throughout the week, which may cancel out any advantage they have.
George McNeill – George McNeill is currently having one of his best seasons on the PGA Tour and a victory isn’t far away in my opinion. He’s finished inside the top 30 in six of his last seven starts and that includes a 5го place finish in the Crowne Plaza Invitational. The American has won twice on the PGA Tour and came very close to winning this event in 2014. McNeill shot a final round of 61, which led to a second place finish, this indicating that he likes this week’s venue. The 39 year old also finished 17го in this event in 2013, this making the case for McNeill even better.

Daniel Berger – This season has been Daniel Berger’s first on the PGA Tour, and he’s excelled. In the 22 events that Berger has played in, he has finished inside the top ten on five occasions and this includes a second place finish in the Honda Classic, where Daniel lost in a play-off against Padraig Harrington. There is no doubt that the American is one for the future, but a victory is going to come sooner rather than later in my opinion and he has every chance in a weak field this week. Finally, Berger is a big hitter and is ranked 22й in the par four performance statistic on the PGA Tour this season, both are advantageous around the Old White TPC.

Scott Langley – Given the good record of longshots in this event, it makes sense to back Scott Langley at 200/1. He impressed me last year, by recording numerous top 25’s and that includes a 3й place finish in the Valspar Championship. Admittedly he hasn’t had a good 2015 so far but he’s put in some good rounds in recent events, and it is only a matter of time before he puts four very good rounds together. Langley was 4го after the opening round of the Heritage and tied for 27го in the Crowne Plaza Invitational not so long ago. However I was more impressed with his performance last week in the Travelers Championship. He finished in 25го position, despite a poor third round and Langley hit an impressive 79.17% of greens in regulation, only Paul Casey hit more. Finally, the 26 year old tied for 26го in this event last year and his game suits the course, therefore I wouldn’t be surprised to see Langley perform well this week.
