Tennis Handicap Betting Preview – Wednesday 27th May by @Tennisratings

ATP French Open – Second Round – Stan Wawrinka vs Dusan Lajovic

The French Open starts the second round today, and there are a number of intriguing match-ups as the tournament progresses.

One such match-up is the clash between Stan Wawrinka and Dusan Lajovic, with Wawrinka again offering us a great chance to oppose him on the game handicap, as we successfully did against Lukas Rosol last week in Geneva.

Lajovic is much more solid on clay than many think, with it being by far his preferred surface. He has won 17 of 30 matches on clay in the last 12 months, holding 81.8% and breaking 23.2%, which makes him a solid top-30 type player on the surface.

Wawrinka, who advanced past the clay-hating Marsel Ilhan in relatively facile fashion on Monday, has a major issue in covering game handicap lines on clay, as highlighted last Wednesday.

On clay in Grand Slams, priced under 1.20, the Swiss has covered -8 games just in that win over Ilhan in the last four years. Across all surfaces, his record in doing this is similarly unimpressive, failing to do so in 10/14 matches, which includes one push at the handicap line.

With Lajovic being generally under-rated by the markets, as well as the historical handicap tendencies, Wawrinka is very unlikely to blow the Serb away in a dominant match, and backing Lajovic with an eight game head start has an excellent chance of converting at a shade of odds-on.

Tennis Handicap Betting Recommendation: Dusan Lajovic +8 games at 1.80
