Sporting Gijon v Real Madrid Asian Handicap Preview – Saturday 15th April by @MarkOHaire

Real Madrid took a commanding 2-1 lead away from Bayern Munich in their Champions League quarter-final first leg encounter in midweek but head coach Zinedine Zidane admitted post-match he was disappointed his side hadn’t departed with a large advantage.

The defending champions were in control of proceedings as soon as the Bavarians were reduced to 10 men and Los Blancos peppered the Bayern goal in the final 30 minutes but were unable to find a way past the impressive Manuel Neuer.

Real Madrid remain on Couse

Madrid must now prepare for a second leg encounter with the German giants on Tuesday but first Zidane must keep Real on track for their first La Liga triumph since 2012.

The table-toppers head to El Molinon to face a struggling Sporting side on Saturday afternoon and we should expect a number of changes to the Los Blancos line-up here with Marco Asensio, Alvaro Morata and Mateo Kovacic all set for a start in Asturias.

Despite resting and rotating his star-studded squad, Real should still prove too good for their inferior opposition with Sporting appearing doomed to relegation and sitting five points adrift of safety as we approach the final furlong.

Fringe players to perform

Zidane made nine changes to his best XI for Madrid’s last away day at fellow relegation battlers Leganes but the Champions League holders performed well in a comfortable 4-2 victory but arguably more impressive was Real’s convincing 4-1 thrashing away at Eibar in March when also fielding a chunk of fringe players.

So we certainly shouldn’t be concerned about Madrid’s ability to take top honours this weekend and I fancy the league leaders to continue their trend for grabbing plenty of goals in games away from their Bernebeu home.

Back Los Blancos to blast past Sporting

The capital club have bagged six successive away wins across all competitions, as well as 10 La Liga triumphs on their travels this term. In eight of those domestic victories Zidane’s troops have scored at least three goals and backing a repeat appears a little too big to ignore at odds of 2.20.

Sporting have shipped three goals or more at El Molinon when both Barcelona and Atletico Madrid arrived already this season and have actually conceded Over 2.5 Goals on six occasions in La Liga already this season.

So I’ll happily back a confident Real Madrid side repeating the trick on Saturday afternoon at a generous 2.20.

Asian Handicap Recommendation: Real Madrid to score Over 2.5 Goals at 2.20
